Pros Rechargeable battery, high capacity, backlit display, menu system, lots of playback...
Cons File storage feature is not (yet) plug-n-play<br> No drag-n-drop for music files
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this MP3 player after suffering through two smaller capacity and horribly user interfaced players. This one has the features I needed which include: random play, playlists, play by album, play by artist, create ad-hoc playlists, etc. It comes with software to manage it from your computer... Great alternative to the iPod

Pros Great (replaceable) battery Excellent value
Cons firmware a little buggy boring appearance
Recommended it? Yes

Let me start by saying that I bought my Nomad for 2 primary reasons:
1) It was over $100 bucks cheaper than a similarly-equipped iPod when I bought it a year ago.
2) I am a bit of a contrarian—the more I heard about how miraculous the iPod was, the more I wanted to buy anything else.

After deciding on buying a Mp3 player I did some research and discovred that the iPod was not compatible with my version of windows (CURSE YOU APPLE) so I did some more research and decided taht the zen xtra was the best idea that thre was so I went to circuit city and purchased the product even... Pros Huge storage space, easy to use, outstanding sound quality, good software(I liked it!)
Cons Size, poor quality headphones included, no direct recording from any source, no FM
Recommended it? Yes

I recently purchased this item after having a Sony Minidisc player for awhile. My main motivation was to have enough storage space to put my entire music collection into. This player fits the bill perfectly. You never realize how much space 30GB is until you start trying to fill it. I have more... Read full review »

An amazing player if you can live with the interface

Pros Amazing features, unique functions, great sound quality
Cons Jog dial doesn't scroll very fast, reported quality control issues
Recommended it? Yes

The Creative Nomad Zen Xtra MP3 Jukebox is actually an amazing MP3 player, if you can forgive its relatively large size (when compared to the iPod) and clunky user interface (again, when compared to the iPod). Not only does it have SUPERB sound quality, unmatched by iPod or Rio or iRiver, but it... Read full review »

Mixed Bag

Pros WMA compatible, Good price, relatively small size and weight.
Cons Navigation is fair to poor, case is bad, some bugs exist.
Recommended it? Yes

Overall, I would recommend the Zen Xtra, but there are certainly two sides to this product.

First, the Zen Xtra has its pros, there's no doubt. The biggest for me was that it handles WMA as well as MP3 files, which widened the scope of music I could load on it immensely. This is because... Read full review »

Fantastic value on a great sounding player

byautri Feb 3, 2004

Pros Great sound; good interface; replaceable, powerful battery; good software; wake-up, sleep...
Cons Not plug & play; relies on ID3; no FM or recording; short warranty
Recommended it? Yes

Pros:
1) Great sound (>98dB signal-to-noise ratio beats Ipod's "unspecified" ratio) and good power output allow the Zen Xtra to drive large head-phones as well as external speakers. With my Sennheiser 497 headphones, the volume is loud enough at 12 (max is 20). The player works well with my... Read full review »

Pros Sound quality, price, hard drive size, battery life.
Cons Clunky, froze up on me once already.
Recommended it? Yes

I recently graduated from high school, and one of the electronics I was not going to go to college without was an Mp3 player. I browsed through countless reviews on players, but was limited by price. My price limit was $250, but players with the size I needed were closer to $300. I ran across this... Read full review »

Pros Cheap! Reliable! and Better Then the Ipod!
Cons Software Still Needs Work, Occasional Pop.
Recommended it? Yes

Update: Wow the time went by...
Still have it, although I have replaced it for a smaller one but I still love this one for the majority of my music needs. Still pops but battery life is the same. It has a few scratches and I dont know how many times I have droped it and think I finally killed... Read full review »

Had an Ipod, got rid of it and now Zen extra all the way

Pros Good battery Life Easy management of music or files Great machine
Cons It will sometimes reset upon starting after I have made a lot of changes.
Recommended it? Yes

When I read the review from that guy who would pay 1000 for an Ipod and he brought all the review averages down I just had to set the record straight. First I started with an RCA Lyra 20 gig. It wasn't bad but much too slow. All I heard about was the GREAT IPOD and I then purchased one. I took it... Read full review »
