Don't bother if your child tall (or going to be)

Pros Matches interior of vehicles and looks very nice, NOT plaid!
Cons Very large for rear-facing infant seat, not large enough for tall toddlers, price
Recommended it? No

This seat is for rear-facing 5-35 pounds, front facing 20-40 pounds and up to 40 inches, and belt positioning booster 30-80 pounds and up to 52 inches.

I bought this seat only because I happened to find it on clearance at Walmart for $55. I had been in the hunt for a seat that would 5 pt... Read full review »

Pros It will grow with your child.
Cons The straps tangle. It's enormous.
Recommended it? No

I bought the AO based on numerous recommendations. I hemmed and hawed about it too, because I considered it on the pricey side. Now that I've had it for a year, I can't take it anymore and I'm throwing it away.

1. My toddler has always been on the small side. But, he can actually escapes... Read full review »

One of the better car seats is still far from perfect

Pros Rear facing up to 35 pounds; sturdy: steel-reinforced back; holds up well under heavy use.
Cons Seat belt can be difficult to tighten; Seat belt positioning is not the safest.
Recommended it? Yes

A year ago (december 2000) we purchased a COSCO Alpha-Omega convertible car seat for our daughter, who had just turned one. We bought the seat after looking at at least two dozen different models in several stores. Many car seats seemed decent, but this one was overall the most suitable for our... Read full review »

Pros This car seat is very comfortable and easy to use.
Cons It is a bit bulky when used with the base.
Recommended it? Yes

I just love this car seat. It was given to me at my baby shower and have been using it for my 9 month old daughter for at least two months. I loved this car seat because it came with all of the extra stuff ~ the strap covers, a pillow, and infant head support. The head support was great at first,... Read full review »

Pros more than I can mention
Cons might not fit in every car, it's kind of large
Recommended it? Yes

We purchased this carseat a few days ago after hours of research and testing out various seats at a few stores. We bought the 5 point harness model, not the overhead shield model though. It appears to be comfortable and has nice cushioning. It keeps my 9 month old daughter tucked in nice and safe... Read full review »

Good car seat

Pros Easy to adjust, not to difficult to install.
Cons It's huge, and the straps are constantly getting twisted
Recommended it? Yes

I had bought the Alpha Omega with five point harness after my child quickly outgrew her infant carrier, and I had done so much research that my head spun. I purchased this seat for the main reason that it is able to hold a child up to 80 pounds, and I have a very quickly growing daughter.

Not a convenient rear-facing seat.

Pros Can be used from infant to 80 lbs.
Cons Rear facing position makes it hard to tighten and loosen straps.
Recommended it? Yes

Nice looking seat that (in theory) can be used from infant to 80 pounds. We found the straps to be difficult to adjust in the rear-facing position (the latch is buried into the seat). Also, in our car the car seat sits up almost straight (despite being reclined) when rear-facing. The straps seem to... Read full review »

Pros Great Fit. Comfortable for the kids.
Cons Cleaning is a nightmare!
Recommended it? Yes

This is one of the best seats ever made. It fits the car well and secures our children extremely well. We've tried other seats, and the others suffer by comparison. Also, our daughter likes the comfort of this one the best. There are many other raves about this seat on epinions (see cosco alpha... Read full review »

Overall - A Good Seat

Pros Very Comfortable for my son.
Cons Doesn't fit well in an Explorer when backward facing in the middle of the seat.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased the Cosco Alpha Omega with the 5 point harness. I really like it now that we have it facing forwards. Initially, we had problems getting it to fit properly in the middle of the back seat of our Ford Explorer when backward facing. We took it to a local police department to have them fit... The "All-in-one" seat that doesn't do anything well...

byjmmatlock Sep 20, 2000

Pros Rear-facing to 35 lbs; entire back reinforced for safety
Cons Doesn't do any one feature "well" - sub-standard in each respect.
Recommended it? No

"This is the only car seat your child will ever need." Maybe...if...

1. If your baby is large to begin with, because the harness won't fit until they are tall enough for their shoulders to be even with or above the lowest harness strap setting. My big baby didn't fit well until he was 4... Read full review »
