Nikon 4800 Coolpix Camera - The Best Close-Up Shots I've Seen!
The Nikon Coolpix 4800 digital camera is bringing me a whole new digital shooting experience from my previous Kodak digital camera. The Nikon Coolpix 4800 is lightweight and compact combining 4 megapixels, a powerful 8.3x optical Zoom and a range of functions that make it easy and exciting to... Read full review »
To quote Paul Simon "I got a Niiiiiiiiikon camera, I love to take phooootographs"
I did a lot of research, some great digital camera review sites are:

They have great stats lists, go there and compare!

Lovely Hardware, Frustrating Software
This was my first new-camera purchase after using an SLR (not a Nikon) for 31 years. After much research I bought the digital Nikon Coolpix 4800 because 1) I trusted the brand although Nikons are now manufactured in China instead of Japan; 2) I always wanted a Nikon and 3) this model takes good... Almost perfect
I like my Nikon Coolpix 4800. It's lightweight, takes great pictures, the battery lasts forever, easy to use. What don't I like. It's very slow. I get photos of where the stunt plane WAS a few seconds ago, or my son skating AWAY from the goal he just made.... Wish I could morph this camera into a... Read full review »
The Nikon Coolpix 4800 Digital Camera Review - I Love It
I've owned this Nikon digital camera for a while now, and originally bought it for photographs I posted on my web site. These particular pictures of wargaming miniatures required what could best be described as 'extreme close-up' capacity, and the Nikon Coolpix 4800 was the only camera that met the... One of my favorite cameras
I own many Nikon cameras, and this one has been one of my favorites. I usually take 100 pictures a week (and I'm not a pro photographer, just a casual shooter), so I go through cameras quite often, and this one has stood the test of time. It has come to me on 4 separate Disney World vacations,... Read full review »
Excellent for the job
I tour a lot, and had been on the lookout for a good camera for some time. I already had a point and shoot film type camera, which though convenient, had no zoom (therefore rather forgettable landscape/scenery shots), and of course, all the disadvantages of a film camera. The digital camera I had... Read full review »
NIKON 4800 underrated updated
I am updating this in February. Quality control for this camera is all over the place as I tried three but generally speaking this is the best of the 4 megapixels I have tried and to sum up the reasons why : decent lens, nikon quality and 8x zoom power. For the its low price its definitely a... Read full review »
Good, but not great
I have had the CoolPix for over a year, and got it because of the 8X optical zoom (most pix are nature and landscapes, not parties and people.) Three separate camera stores recommended it, based on my stated requirements. We take a modest number of pictures, and capacity is never a problem. A... Read full review »
Not impressed
I got this camera after a long review process. As a building inspector I need good low-light, good auto focus and a long optical zoom. This camera appeared to do all these things.
Not so.
The auto focus (even in normal light) is poor at best. In low light it's a joke!
