I remember the time when I didn't have a pocket pc so unorganized, forgeting upcoming projects that had to be done, all of this changed when I got my ipaq. I can send emails anywhere any time, right down upcoming project, even do my taxes!

Unbelievably poor quality

byssif21 Dec 21, 2002

Pros Nice features (when in works)
Cons Unbelievably poor quality
Recommended it? No

My first PC was a Compaq (1984). I'd held a very positive view of the company until my office provided iPAQ 3850s. Actually, provided me three of them within a year, with all three having been returned. With the last two, the battery self destructed and erased all the information. Even when it does... The iPAQ: A truly powerful PocketPC... Here's why

byfhiga Sep 11, 2002

Pros Powerful, modern metallic-style, excellent screen, Pocket PC 2002 operating system.
Cons Pricey, battery life, no CompactFlash slot
Recommended it? Yes

I've just bought my new iPAQ H3850 a few days ago, and I can tell that this is the PDA that I was looking for.

These are some of the specs for the H3850 model:

- 206MHz Intel StrongArm SA-1110 processor
- 64MB RAM / 32 MB FLASH ROM (upgradeable!)
- 240x320 64K color,... Read full review »

A few minor cons, but still one spectacular PDA!

Pros Brilliant color display; sleek design; tons of excellent apps available!
Cons Expensive; sync software has some quirks; cradle is overly designed

It had to happen sooner or later...

I had been using my Palm V PDA for a long time. But there was always that one nagging problem that just drove me nuts. The bland, monochrome screen on the Palm device was so difficult to read unless you held it "just right." And don't even get me... Read full review »

I have been using the Ipaq for many weeks now. The unit is a great tool I am able too use my calendar, contacts, and tasks and keep then in sync with my home computer with no problems. The Ipaq has been of great help is the recent weeks with easy scheduling capabilities.

Pros Size, Style, Screen
Cons SD/MMC Expensive and Size limited, Not many SD accessories
Recommended it? No

I have a Ipaq 3765 and have been selling the 38xx series since their release to the public. I like the extended battery life and High resolution screen the 38xx series offers over the 37xx. The SD slot is nice too, however a Compact Flash slot would have been better. This really comes down to a... Read full review »

Another Swing at the PPC Industry

bymsmasitti Apr 20, 2002
11 Helpfuls 12 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros 16-bit, large bright screen, awesome looks, SD/MMC, PPC benefits, multimedia, included...
Cons Contrast a bit off, Cleartype is useless, no SDIO, PIE has downgraded
Recommended it? Yes

The predecessor to the 36xx series iPAQ's, Compaq makes a new, bold enter to the PocketPC 2002 world. They introduce a much needed 16-bit color screen, a built in SD slot, and a newly designed machine that just looks stunning. It is right on par with features compared to other devices, however... Pros Great color screen, easy input, useful software!
Cons After one week I'm experiencing unexplained problems with the sync.
Recommended it? Yes

I fell in love with my new iPAQ 3850 after one week of owning it. However, after one week I started to experience unexplained problems with the active sync at both my home and office computer. Inasmuch as the sync function is the backbone of the convenience of any PDA, I must remain particularly... Read full review »

Pros Everything on it is awesome, except the con
Cons no CF slot

Great unit to work with. As a software developer I use my ipaq to test several CE apps I have written. The infrared port is really hard to work with, unless you're connnecting to another IPAQ. You can also get it with bluetooth, which is supposed to be really cool.
The battery life is... Read full review »

If you are reading this, then you are probably trying to decide between these comparable models that use the "new" Pocket PC 2002 operating system (aka WinCE 3.0 SE)

Compaq Ipaq 3800 series.
Casio Cassiopeia E-200 series
Hewlett-Packard 560 series

Cons Large size, provided screen cover easily smudges, small library of programs, poor memory...

I've always been a long time PDA user. Well, sort of. I started off with a Visor Deluxe, then I moved onto a Sony Clie N760C and the list goes on from there.

After the N760C, I moved to a T615C (three of them actually, all with display problems), then to the Compaq iPaq in question. I... Read full review »

The older I?ve gotten, the more I?ve realized that I need those ?gadgets? that I?ve chided my friends for using years ago. You know what I?m talking about? cell phones? PDAs? laptops? If you don't have an obscene amount of cash to spend on a handheld, stop reading here and move on... no seriously, if you can get past the high price of the new iPaq's, read on and see why they really are great PDA's. I started my recent quest for the perfect handheld with a Sony Clie 610, which... Read full review »

Compaq 3850... nice design than the 3760 but still lacking.

byyusakugo Dec 27, 2001
69 Helpfuls 70 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Pocket PC 2002, nice design, SD/MMC slot, reliable design
Cons lacks features, still too much like original iPAQ design, no CF slot.

Well, the iPAQ 3850 has alot of similarities to the 3100, 3600, and 3700 series iPAQs but has a few features that puts it above those models... but not by much. There are two basic models... the 3835 and the 3850. There is no major difference in the hardware specifications for these models. The... Read full review »
