Great for everything but complex task management
This PDA has all kinds of bells and whistles. The most striking feature of the iPAQ is its bright, crisp color screen. Even at the low brightness levels, it is quite eye-catching.
The iPAQ 3635 features Compaq's color Pocket PC plus a CompactFlash expansion sleeve that allows you to add...

You Get What You Pay For!
I never thought I would buy another Windows-based PDA after using a Palm V, as I simply never thought the Pocket PC could be efficient enough to work as well as the Palm OS. The iPaq is the first Windows-based device to completely convert me.
I purchased my H3630 (identical to the 3650;...

I thought I had a Winner........until
Having excitedly entered an International Airport Duty Free with loads of lovely unspent foreign change I impulsively decided on this shining example of pocket wizardry from Compaq. The attractions were obvious
1. To my mind a superbly designed, light weight office computer which could...

A Compaq...lets take a closer look
Portable computers have become a very popular trend in the modern mainstream. Increasing demands for performance and portability have fused together to form this machine. It's a great personal hand-held computer that is great for booking meetings and using as a daily planner. The screen is visible... Read full review »
Pretty darn good
Got one through work, it is pretty handy. I know lots of people that have installed games, wireless adapters, etc. on their iPAQ for more functionality. I just run the regular system with audible software for audio books and Pocket Streets for maps when I travel. My only problems are;

Balance (Depends on why you need one)
Compaq's iPAQ is the fastest PDA so far. It is clocked with the Palmax's @migo. You can get the @migo at www.Urthere.com. It also runs on the Pocket PC OS
It can do what most Pocket PC's can. E-Books, MP3, wireless internet w/ hookup to a mobile phone. In fact, right now, i'm writing this...

Laptop in your hands
The iPaq is the best PDA on the market yet. I have had mine since June 2000. My review will be more of a "long term review".
The iPaq has never failed me nor has it ever "crashed". Yes it has locked up and I have used the soft reboot to restart it, but I have never lost any data.
The...

Amazing!!!
I had a Handspring Visor Prism for about 4 months and was fairly happy with it, but found that it had some limitations and did not like having to learn writing in Graffiti. After trying out a Compaq 3630 a colleague had bought, I sold the Handspring and used the proceeds toward my own 3630.

Superior Technology Lacking Quality
I recieved my iPAQ in a beta-test from the company in my school and have the rescourse to see what this can do in looking at 26 others, as aposed to just one. Part of this review is from a letter I wrote to the company. The cost I wrote is what they told us it cost.
PC synchronization,...

Compaq iPAQ 3630 Color Pocket PC
Compaq's iPAQ Pocket PC combines a 206 MHz Intel StrongARM processor, new hardware, and a sleek industrial design that fits in your hand to create a powerful and stylish PDA you can take anywhere. It offers 32 MB RAM and 16 MB ROM--enough memory to hold a robust package of applications while leaving you a lot of room for your own applications. The color TFT screen produces 4,086 colors, and you can view the screen from many angles and in a variety of lighting situations. The Compaq iPAQ wraps the power of a Microsoft Windows operating system in a new interface designed for ease of use in a portable format. Even if you've never used a computer or digital organizer, learning to use the Compaq iPAQ is easy. Other highlights of the Compaq iPAQ include a microphone and a speaker as well as an audio-in jack. It features an infrared port for wireless data transfer. The Compaq iPAQ uses five buttons plus a five-way joystick. The iPAQ connects to either USB or serial ports. The iPAQ allows you to input data in your own handwriting, by soft keyboard, by voice recorder, or through inking. Both audible and visual alarms alert you when you have a scheduled event. What sets this Pocket PC apart from similar devices on the market is its sleevelike expansion-pack system. The expansion-pack system allows you add functionality to suit your particular needs. Expansion-pack options currently include a CompactFlash pack, the ability to attach a CompactFlash card slot to your iPAQ, an executive leather and PC Card expansion pack, and a water-resistant sports pack. In the future, Compaq plans to release a global positioning system pack, so you can turn your iPAQ pocket PC into a GPS unit. The Compaq iPAQ is sporty and small. At 5.11 by 3.28 by 0.62 inches and 6 ounces, it fits in your hand or slides into your pocket with ease. Don't let the size fool you into thinking you don't get many applications with your iPAQ. You receive a great deal of Microsoft software, such as Pocket versions of Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and Outlook as well as the full desktop version of Outlook 2000. Compaq also has built-in utilities so that frequent actions--such as switching between tasks, adjusting volume, or changing backlighting-- are only a click away. Compaq offers a one-year warranty on parts and labor for the iPAQ.
