Could a battery problem be the IPAQs undoing?
I have recommended and indeed purchased an IPAQ 3630 and I love it. Well loved it until I left it uncharged for more than two weeks. When I eventually switched it on to recharge and restore my data the battery would not hold the charge.
I went to the Compaq support site which has a large...

AWESOME
I love this thing. It has the best screen of any PDA, easily readable in any conditions. The backlight is so bright, you can actually use it a flashlight in a bind. The bright backlight does tend to drain the power a little fast. The battery life is good, but could be better. I usually need to... Read full review »
A Few Words of Warning
The moment I saw one, I wanted one myself, and was happy to pay our over-inflated British prices for one. However..., over the following 4 months, 4 of the 6 friends have had faults which indicate that there may be serious quality issues:-
1) Screen inverts to show a mirror image display(!)...

Better value than Jornada 548
When I started looking for a PDA, a Palm (or Handspring) was not a contender. I have used a Palm III for 2 months and its novelty fades off in 2 days. There is very little you can do with it. A friend calls it a "glorified contacts list."
A Pocket PC, OTOH, can be used as an mp3 player...

iPAQ...We're almost there.
The Compaq iPAQ is certainly a huge step beyond the PDA's that have been offered in recent years. From the moment I got mine, I never seemed to find a use for my year-old Palm V. The problem with the PDA's seems to be rapidly advancing technology...what's new today is gone in 6 months to a year... Read full review »
The Best Handheld on the Market
First of all, I am not a computer wizard and have very little technical knowledge. This comes from a real novice and some of my descriptions may not be technically correct. I bought the IPAQ primarily for the internet access feature. This is a great feature. However,if you are considering it, you... Read full review »
Greatest PDA since the Apple Newton
The Compaq IPaq is truly a marvel to behold. The device has a 206MHZ ARM processor for speedy access to data, MP3 and MPEG video capability are just some of the selling points of this device. I have a long history of PDA's, back as far as the Apple Newton Messagepad 120. The Messagepad was... Read full review »
Why Buy Anything Else?!
The iPAQ is an amazing box. I say box, because it really is a computer in PDA clothing.
I'd had Palms before (III and V) but what convinced me to buy the iPAQ was the audio capability. I listen to a lot of books on tape. Now I just download from Audible into the iPAQ and no longer need tapes...

I'm very impressed by the performance of the Compaq iPAQ. It have many uses and I use it like a mini laptop. It has pocket word, pocket excel, MS money, address book, and calendar. Compaq iPAQ 3630 Color Pocket PC
Compaq's iPAQ Pocket PC combines a 206 MHz Intel StrongARM processor, new hardware, and a sleek industrial design that fits in your hand to create a powerful and stylish PDA you can take anywhere. It offers 32 MB RAM and 16 MB ROM--enough memory to hold a robust package of applications while leaving you a lot of room for your own applications. The color TFT screen produces 4,086 colors, and you can view the screen from many angles and in a variety of lighting situations. The Compaq iPAQ wraps the power of a Microsoft Windows operating system in a new interface designed for ease of use in a portable format. Even if you've never used a computer or digital organizer, learning to use the Compaq iPAQ is easy. Other highlights of the Compaq iPAQ include a microphone and a speaker as well as an audio-in jack. It features an infrared port for wireless data transfer. The Compaq iPAQ uses five buttons plus a five-way joystick. The iPAQ connects to either USB or serial ports. The iPAQ allows you to input data in your own handwriting, by soft keyboard, by voice recorder, or through inking. Both audible and visual alarms alert you when you have a scheduled event. What sets this Pocket PC apart from similar devices on the market is its sleevelike expansion-pack system. The expansion-pack system allows you add functionality to suit your particular needs. Expansion-pack options currently include a CompactFlash pack, the ability to attach a CompactFlash card slot to your iPAQ, an executive leather and PC Card expansion pack, and a water-resistant sports pack. In the future, Compaq plans to release a global positioning system pack, so you can turn your iPAQ pocket PC into a GPS unit. The Compaq iPAQ is sporty and small. At 5.11 by 3.28 by 0.62 inches and 6 ounces, it fits in your hand or slides into your pocket with ease. Don't let the size fool you into thinking you don't get many applications with your iPAQ. You receive a great deal of Microsoft software, such as Pocket versions of Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and Outlook as well as the full desktop version of Outlook 2000. Compaq also has built-in utilities so that frequent actions--such as switching between tasks, adjusting volume, or changing backlighting-- are only a click away.
