Best wargame ever!

Pros the best wargame ever!
Cons AI could be better
Recommended it? Yes

Having bought this about two years ago, I can still honestly say that it is the best game in my possession. I know there have been the two sequels in this series, but both of them deviated somewhat from CC2's game engine. CC3, for instance, is far more linear, going off in the direction of... The Game Of Bridges

Pros Great strategy on an epic scale with some realistic touches.
Cons A few minor niggles with the controls.
Recommended it? Yes

Close Combat 2 is a top down view, realtime wargame which simulates "Operation Market Garden", where British and American forces attempted to capture the bridges between the front line all the way to Arnhem, 60 miles behind those lines. You've probably seen the film based on the event and... Read full review »

My favorite, and I'm hard to please.

Pros graphics, replay value, historical accuracy, sound effects, excitement factor.
Cons scale is compromised for playability(too few men for the real estate), armor is clumsy,...
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased Close Combat II, a Bridge Too Far, because I have always wanted to simulate small unit tactic in a way that didn't bog down in number crunching detail. CCII does that for you, and it is quite an enjoyable game, with lots of long term replay potential.

I like the fact that it... Read full review »

Pros Very entertaining with crystal-clear graphics!
Cons Speed is moderate on my pentium III and some other glitches make it difficult.
Recommended it? No

I am very interested in WWII. I've read books and watched many documentaries, so when the opportunity arose to get a game on WWII I bought it. While the game was historically correct and fun to play, a few small things took away from the level of amusemant. One of the frustrating aspects was you... Read full review »

Squad Leader for the PC

Pros Detailed modeling of soldiers, terrific multiplayer
Cons Brain dead AI, Somewhat unrealistic anti-tank effects
Recommended it? Yes

Close Combat: A Bridge too Far (hereafter CC2) represents the high point of this series. The original Close Combat had fairly primitive graphics and only two movement speeds for the soldiers (walk and run). Since neither of these speeds involved crawling on the ground, sneaking up on an enemy was... Read full review »

CC2 is good for it's time

Pros Engrossing, educational
Cons Hard to follow the campaigns
Recommended it? Yes

I had the pleasure of coming into this series by way of CC3-the Russian Front (I've written an epinion on this as well). So, it was like taking a step down to this product, but that doesn't mean it is any less good a game.

This game is a real-time squad-based WWII sim that is quite... Read full review »

Microsoft brings the PC Battlefield to a whole new level

Pros Very realistic, One of the Better Wargames, Good sound
Cons May take a while to really understand things
Recommended it? Yes

This is what you've been looking for. Realistic strategy and realistic people that you command. I think it definitely beats out starcraft in terms of strategy. Now there is finally a game that recreates the battlefield with realism, and it's strategy while managing to make the game fast paced.

Pros A must for all WW2 buffs. Online replay value is endless
Cons The computer is rather simple to beat. Play online, the community on the MSN gaming zone...

The skies fill with parachutes, as you desperately try to fight off the Allied invaders, or on Allied terms, the Panzers and Flak of Hitler's elite troops.

The battle for Arnhem is know to have been one of the greatest parachute assaults in history. As the D-Day landings began,... Read full review »

How Realistic Can It Get!

Pros Really realistic and the buildings are a great improvement
Cons Tank's armor is unrealistic
Recommended it? Yes

When I first downloaded the demo of CC2, I was thrilled and amused by just one level of the game for hours and hours on end. I was stunned by the realistic battle units and the sheer amount of infantry and tank types and how close in real life they were. As being half dutch, I was astounded on how... Read full review »

Pros Fun to play, historical, but in a war way.
Cons Hard to first learn.
Recommended it? Yes

This game may not look good but is one in which graphics are not a high point but fun is. The kind of fun I mean is fun in killing people with all sorts of world war 1/2 weapons. It takes a mind that can be strategic and a person who knows how to stalk. It is fun in that you get the chance to be the... Read full review »
