This Product is at 'end of life' and no longer supported by Cisco
This was probably a great product in its day but it is no longer supported by Cisco and so you cannot upgrade the firmware anywhere and the old firmware version 6.2 or earlier is very buggy. Read full review »
A good idea for the SOHO market
The PIX 501 is the smallest model in Cisco's PIX line of firewalls. It's primary intent is for the SOHO market. PIX 501 is a real firewall
This is the only firewall to use. It has it all: VPN clients that are included in the cost of the unit, a set of intrusion detections rules/filters that work, and most of all access control lists (ACL's) that are understandable.
