The Bottom Line:
A great addition to your living room. Beautifully crafted and has the most accurate temperature than a regular thermometer.
I have a thing for thermometers. I like to know what the temperature in the house is at all times because I like to keep my house at the right temperature.
The Galileo Thermometer is really neat. The first time I saw one my mother in law had one. My husband was the one that actually wanted to get one but I really like it myself.
Not only does it give you the temperature but it also looks neat sitting in your house. We had a couple other family members ask what it actually was the first time they seen it.
Galileo Galilei invented this thermometer and I bet he could never have imagined the "thermoscope" he invented four centuries ago would be such a popular and intriguing gift today. Appealing both visually and intellectually, these great gifts are a beautiful combination of precision and art.
It is made of blown glass. There are colorful balls inside the thermometer floating there. The colorful glass balls with counterweight tags react to temperature and density changes in the cylinder by floating or sinking. I'm not sure what the fluid is inside of the cylinder is or what the liquid in the balls are.
In a Galileo Thermometer, the lowest floating sphere in the upper cylinder tells the correct temperature. Each ball is calibrated down to a single degree, and two glass balls differ in weight by only 6/100 gram.
This Thermometer is very accurate and it's supposed to be the best kind of thermometer because how accurate they are. I can tell yoiu for sure this Thermometer has never been wrong and is deffinately very accurate.
I love this thing and we actually have two of them. This one is 24 inches and we have a smaller one as well that is 12 inches. We love them. I remember the first one we ever had broke and we immediately went out and found a new one.
