iP4000 and iP4000R with an "R" for remote

Pros Very easy setup even for wireless networks; very, very quiet; inexpensive to buy and operate.
Cons It's embarrassing, but I truly cannot find any cons after these many months.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  The best printer ever, and I have purchased many including Epson, HP, and professional data printers. This little gem is fabulously easy to install, cheap to operate, and very quiet.
The "R" at the end of the model number, iP4000R, is the same printer as the iP4000, but adds circuitry in the printer enabling it to be accessed wirelessly (Remotely). Otherwise the printer is identical to the model without the "R" letter.

This is the first Canon printer I have tried. After owning an Epson with its poor design, slow printing, enforced obsolescence, and maddening customer support web site; and after the reliable but expensive-consumables-HP; and after reading the many positive reviews of Canon, I took the plunge, and now that the months have passed, this printer is fantastic and I only paid $149 including its built-in wireless access circuitry.

I was braced for a difficult setup and the rest of installation nightmare...BUT was very surprised that the Canon installation went just as the quick start sheet said. I had decided to be brave and skip using the ethernet *cable* connection because I have two wireless computers on a wireless network fed by a NetGear router. Thus no worry about positioning the printer to be near a network cable. In a few moments after inserting the software CD...Voila! It works. And it has been running for months beautifully.

I am a Canon convert! I use the printer mainly for text, but it does full color photos beautifully when needed. The other brands of printers I have had cannot avoid wasting ink because their technologies force you to throw out reserves of ink since they put all the colors in one cartridge. Canon is wisely different and separates the ink reserves with SEPARATE cartridges for yellow, cyan, magenta, and two different black tanks (5 total), so replacing what's needed is a breeze with no waste.

Lastly, this printer is so quiet I barely hear it even if I am next to it. I can now print at night without waking my wife. I love this thing.
