Feels great to upgrade

Pros reasonable ink usage, dual paper feed, duplexing, cabinet closes up. Quality printing
Cons none so far.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Canon quality and because it is a "bare bones" printer with many upscale features. If you don't need frilly extras, then you will be hard pressed to beat this printer.
I was tired of not wanting to use my Canon BJC-6000 for even simple text jobs as the ink tanks can cost. It was a very good printer but a dinosaur nonetheless. I researched and researched and finally came upon the PIXMA series printers by Canon.

My first PIXMA printer I looked at was the ip6000. It all sounded very good but some reviews said it was slow printing simple text. Then I read a review about the ip4000. It was exactly what I was looking for. Very fast black and white with two black ink tanks. And great photo and plain color prints out of only 5 ink cartridges.

I was looking for something cheaper also and let me tell you there are good printers out there in the $80-$150 range. I lucked out with this one as it went on sale Memorial day for $119.00. I also got rebates in the amount of $70. So I actually paid $50.00 for this gem overall. Definitely the best printer for the money that I have ever owned.

I have not had it long enough to run out of ink but for all the printing I have done already, I have hardly seen the tank levels go down. Some reviews have pointed to this printer being slow on duplexing. I didn't run across many printers in this price range that even had duplexing. I must also say that I really love the dual paper feed system. This allows you to totally close up the printer with it's unique cabinet design as you do not have to have paper in the paper top feed slot on the printer. I definitely have not run across any printer in this price range to have that feature.

I think I have made the statement that I am happy with this printer but I am not looking for memory card plug in ports, CD/DVD printer or any of the frills.
