The Bottom Line:
If you want business quality features at home without buying a laser printer, this is the choice for you.
I'd always stuck with Lexmarks until my last one died. I then switched off to an Epson, which bit the dust when I was changing Ink Cartridges. Epson politely offered my a $30 coupon. After searching their site and the web I ended up with the Canon IP5200.
Did you ever want duplex printing at home? Very fast printing from a website with the ability to save paper by duplexing it? How about a photo quality printer that also has two separate paper sources in addition to manual feed? I keep envelops in the cartridge for printing letters. No more changing the paper. Word is already set up to select the cartridge for envelops. Letter and envelop are done in a flash.
And the price of ink cartridges is tiny compared to other printers. I'm not a person who believes in replacement cartridges. I believe the company's own cartridge is the best buy in the long run. And Canon makes easily replaceable cartridges at a fraction of the Epson or Lexmark price.
What's also nice is that the print head is removable. It can be cleaned if necessary. Or it can be replaced if it's really damaged.
Photo quality is really photo quality. And if you're into printing pictures you can put your photo paper in the cartridge instead of envelops.
The printer is a bit bigger than most ink jets, but the features make it a great buy. Canon's Easy-WebPrint is a wonderful tool bar add in that allows quick printing from the web.
And all of this for about $120 delivered.
