Good Basic Printer

Pros Cheap to purchase, cheap to operate, good results
Cons Slow
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  A good low end printer.
This printer was purchased for use by my 5 year old daughter who loves to print. In searching for a printer, I looked for one that was cheap to purchase, cheap to operate, and generated reasonable printing results.

At the present time, these printers are being given away for free with the purchase of certain computers. This proved to be an opportunity for a cheap purchase on eBay as many of the owners are simply flipping the new units once they receive them.

Ink cartridges for this printer are cheap. The cartridges are rather small compared to HP or Epson cartridges leading me to believe that their capacity is less. On the other hand, I purchased 6 non-oem cartridges (3 b&w and 3 color) for $12.50 including shipping from a highly rated power seller on eBay.

In some of the reviews, I read complaints regarding the quality of the print. We have been using it in draft mode with very satisfactory (and crisp) results. I have owned Epson and HP printers (not high end ones) and the quality is every bit as good. On the other hand, the printer is slow, even in draft mode. I was aware of the lack of the paper tray, so I can't complain about this - for a printer in this price range, I don't think one can complain in any case. Another area of complaint is the paper feeder. We have had no problems with this unit. The lack of a USB cable (there is no parallel printer port) is not unusual and USB cables can now be purchased for as little as $1.00, so this is no big deal.

Installation was fairly intuitive, with a good start up sheet. The software ran fine, and the printer worked right away.

If I were to complain about one thing, I was hoping for a smaller printer, while relatively small, it is by no means tiny.
