Ciba Vision Air Optix Night and Day: Does the Job Nicely

Pros Clear vision, comfortable to wear.
Cons None.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Ciba Vision Air Optix Night and Day lenses work well.
I have worn contact lenses for 33 years now. I started out with the old horrible hard lenses and progressed through various types. I wore Ciba Vision Focus 1 to 2 week lenses for years. When my eye doctor told me that those lenses had been discontinued I was concerned. Switching to a new type of contact lens was not something I was looking forward to doing.

Now, I tend to bend the rules a bit on my contacts. My old lenses were supposed to be tossed after two weeks; I was getting to the point where I was wearing them for more like three to four weeks before starting a new pair.

Thus, it made sense for my eye doctor to recommend Ciba Vision Air Optix Night and Day lenses. They are good for 30 days. He did not, however, tell me to wear them for 30 days straight and I would not want to do that anyway, having had a bad experience years ago with leaving a pair of contacts in for too long. His direction to me was to wear them weekly, take them out once a week and leave them out overnight, and then start a new pair after the fourth week. I strongly believe in letting my eyes rest a bit from my contacts, but my vision is uncomfortable with my back up glasses and I hate to wake up blind (my vision is 20/600 in both eyes) so I have to put myself on a strict schedule to make sure I follow the guidelines.

Ciba Vision Air Optix Night and Day lenses are working out just fine for me. My vision is clear and I have not experienced any discomfort when wearing them. I use Opti Free Replenish for soaking the lenses when I am not wearing them and I occasionally use rewetting drops or just plain saline directly into my eye if my contacts feel dry. Most of the time I have only experienced any minor dryness feeling right when I wake up. This is not something I can attribute to these particular lenses, however, as I have always had this problem in the morning after sleeping in my contacts.

These lenses have a diameter that is just a bit smaller than my other lenses, but I have not noticed any discomfort or difficulty putting them in/taking them out because of this. The lenses feel to be about the same thickness as my previous lenses. In all honesty, I really can't tell that I am wearing a different type of lens.

I would definitely recommend Ciba Vision Air Optix Night and Day lenses. Price is comparable to my other lenses, and I have clear, comfortable vision. That is what I want in a contact lens.
