Burt's Bees Lip Balm: Don't Leave Home Without It!

Pros not waxy, moisturizing, natural ingredients, refreshing peppermint scent
Cons not sold everywhere
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  This is definitely one of my favorites! It's smooth, minty, and one of the best!
I am a lip balm addict. Anybody who knows me, knows that I always have a tube tucked in my pocket or I go crazy. I have had many "favorite" balms over the past few years. I have tried Chapstick, Bonne Bell, and Blistex, to name a few. I have even tried more expensive lip moisturizers like Lancome Lip Vinefit SPF 8, but I always come back to Burt's Bees.

About the product
Burt's most popular product, chocked full of pain relieving protective ingredients to help soothe cracked, chapped or burning lips. Available in the .3 oz, old-fashioned yellow tin or the newfangled .15 oz. plastic tube (with 50% post-industrial recycled plastic

Price and Packaging
This chapstick comes in two forms. You can purchase it in a standard plastic tube, similar to the tubes most lip balms come in. They also sell the lip balm in a small round metal tins. Both the tube and tin are yellow and decorated with little bees.

One interesting thing to note is that the tin will give you twice as much product as the tube for the same price. Both form cost $2.50. The tin will give you .3 oz of balm whereas the tube will only give you .15 oz. For me, I prefer the convenience of the tube even though I get less product. It is not worth it to me to stick my finger in a tin of lip balm. Although with the way I go through this stuff, I probably should be buying the tin to save some money!

The only drawback to this balm is that it is not readily available everywhere. It is not sold in Target or most grocery stores. You will need to go a natural foods or health store to find it. I know Longs Drug stores carry it. You can also order online from drugstore.com or burtsbees.com.

My experience
I have been using this lip balm for a couple years now. Someone suggested I give it a try. So while I was out shopping at a grocery store that sold natural products, I picked up a tube and haven't looked back since.

Applying the lip balm is very pleasant because it is an extremely soft and smooth product. It just glides right onto my lips. I hate hard or waxy lip balms that feel heavy and thick. Burt's Bees does not do that. It is light, but very moisturizing. It is very comfortable to wear. There is not even a hint of waxiness. I like that I can put it on and forget I'm wearing lip balm.

Besides the way it feels, I enjoy the mint scent. There is a light peppermint scent and taste to it. I find the mint very refreshing. It is not overwhelming, but just a light hint of mint. You can taste and smell it, but I think it is just enough to revive your lips! If you greatly dislike the taste or scent of peppermint, you may want to skip this one. It is noticeable, but I really like it!

Lastly, I find this lip balm to be very moisturizing. A quick sweep of the tube over my lips and they will be moisturized for quite a while. I do apply Burt's Bees Lip Balm several times throughout the day as needed. I am an addict I tell you. Even my students know that I can't do anything without it! Once I apply, I don't have to reapply unless I eat or drink or have been speaking and licking my lips a lot. My lips absorb the balm and stay happy and moisturized.

Probably the biggest benefit I've noticed is when I wake up in the morning. I apply the lip balm at night before going to bed and always wake up to soft smooth lips. I don't have chapped dry lips in the morning. It's a great feeling!

If you are looking for a new lip balm, I would suggest trying Burt's Bees. It's a natural lip balm that does wonders for your lips. I enjoy everything about it! I haven't find a better lip balm since switching to Burt's Bees!
