Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I highly recommend this racing game. A variety of missions will keep you entertained for hours.
A fast-paced racing game having you not just race around tracks, but doing various events from crashing other cars to pursuing convicts, to destroying your opponents. Get gold/silver/and bronze medals for completing courses in time. Special courses offer prize 'legendary racer' cars for completion
This product is almost entirely bug-free. It has not froze up on me yet. The wait times are long as with other PSP games, but it is worth the wait. Just some small detail problems as covered in the graphics section.
Plot: 5
Not much to say here, although it has a lot of different things you can do, there isn't much of a plot, no street racer gangs, no story/missions its just racing for different missions and getting gold cups and legendary race cars.
Graphics: 8
Overall good graphics, except that some things get in the way. Small obstacles such as fences blend into the background and unless you pay close attention you will hit them and crash. It also has good details for when your car is getting beat-up and pushed around.. your bumper starts hanging on one side, your hood flops up and down, and you start to spark whenever you rub against a metal siding or just a wall. Which brings me to another point. Sometimes, when you get enough damage, your hood will pop up and block your view causing your probability of crashing to increase three-fold. It is very annoying because no matter how much you move it covers up part of your field of view. Other-wise the graphics are exceptional and very smooth.
Gameplay: 9
Very easy controls that are easy to learn and easy to memorize. I learned them very quickly. It is easy to brake and boost, making driving a lot easier. The car is very maneuverable and responds well to the controls.
Fun Factor: 9
Burnout Legends is a very fun racing game. One of the best I have ever played. There are a whole variety of different events you can do. The game is divided into 5 different levels, each a different type of car (coupe, super, sport, muscle, etc.) There are Crash events where you crash your vehicle into others to see how much damage you cause in terms of dollars. Ordinary race events for the dedicated racer. One original feature is the pursuit events. You are given a police car depending on your type of car, and you are given a certain amount of time to rub an opponent enough to give him significant damage. If you are able to take him down before the time is up, you earn a gold medal. These events are challenging but also very rewarding at the end because they require the most skill. Best for last, Road Rage events where you ram opponents into walls and earn takedowns. These are by far the most fun events you can do on burnout. After I got tired of racing, I played the road rage events and took down opponents. It seems easy but there is one catch, if you get taken down yourself and sustain enough damage, it will end, so you must takedown as many opponents as possible before you get wrecked.
Sound: 9
As with all the other EA games, it comes with a great variety of rock/punk/rap/pop/instrumental/ and remixes. Though you cannot choose which song to listen to, the songs play only on the title screen so there is not much to worry about. In-game, it is a world filled with realistic highway, city, or other sounds that you would expect. Revving engines and speed-boost noises common to the road
Playback: 9
A variety of missions makes up a very entertaining game. You will want to come back and play a specific type of mission over and over. Getting gold medals and earning new cars and rewards also brings you back. It can keep you occupied for hours.
Final Judgment: 8.1
