Burberry for Men Cologne: British Style Strikes Out

Pros Not wearing it now
Cons Not masculine, Terrible Aroma, Pungent
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  This is one Burberry cologne to stay far away from.
Burberry is my favorite cologne manufacturer, as they have established themselves with a reputation for quality. You can't find a company that offers high quality at a reasonable rate like they do, even though there are plenty of competitors out there. There products of The Beat, Brit, and London are simply outstanding. In addition to colognes and perfurmes, Burberry is known for their fashionable clothes, which cost a substantial bit more. I'm sorry, but I don't think paying $100 for a long sleeve shirt is reasonable, but there's obviously a market for it. While most of their products have been successful, and well received, a gift that arrived at my door was not.

The gift of Burberry Cologne was appreciated, although it was the wrong product obviously. I would have been overjoyed with any of the three that were previously mentioned, but I got the original cologne. Some people really like this, as its what launched the colognes that have been such hot sellers, but the original formula falls short of their fantastic quality. The bottle itself is plain, other than "Burberry for Men" written on it, which doesn't bother me. The sprayer is of the usual above average quality, and very durable. What irritates me is this colognes aroma, which is nothing at all like their other ones.

This cologne smells like a combination of nail polish remover, women's perfume, and flowers. I'm sorry, but that's just not very masculine. There's also a hint of that medicine cabinet odor to it as well, and that alone would be enough of a reason to toss it in the trash can. This spray aside from its awful aroma, is just very feminine, and it could be considered a cheap smelling women's perfume. The aroma is way too strong as well, as most Burberry's have lasting power, but this one can drive people away. It will provide protection against normal day to day odors, but do you really want to mask them with something that smells even worse?

I won't be using this anymore, as the aroma is just so pungent that I can't tolerate it. Even spraying it can cause me to sneeze, and I didn't like the burning sensation I received applying it after a shave. It seems the alcohol content is high because of this reaction, and my neck became even redder than it usually is. I don't know how much the 3.4 ounce bottle cost, as it was a gift, but I'm imagining its in the $50+ range. I have seen it at retailers, but never have given it much thought, as I've always been so entranced with their newer products. Now that I've worn it and tried it, I'm trying to figure out a charity that would like a used bottle of cologne. Its just so bad that I don't want to use it again, and am disappointed that Burberry struck out so badly with this one.
