Not your father's buick

Pros Quiet and smooth, I thought I was in a Lexus
Cons A few more luxury features would put this car ahead of the pack.
Recommended it? Yes

My test drive of the LaCrosse CXS left me with a very good first impression. The CXS version has the 3.6-liter VVT (variable valve timing) DOHC V6 engine, with 24 valves. I've owned three GM cars with their 3.8 liter V6 engine, which is what comes in the two lower-end LaCrosse's. I always thought... Read full review »

Pros Excellent quality. Beautiful styling. Phenomenal fuel economy
Cons Radio buttons. No external decklid handle
Recommended it? Yes

On March 12, 2005, my girlfriend traded her thoroughly mediocre 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass sedan for a new Buick LaCrosse CX. The Cutlass had been experiencing chronic cooling system problems. When she was confronted with the prospect of paying another $535 to replace the intake manifold gasket on the... Read full review »

Can the LaCrosse plug a massive hole in GM's line-up?

Pros Much improved interior, refinement, highway passing ability
Cons Blah exterior, cramped rear seat, pricey
Recommended it? Yes

Through the mid-1980s GM owned the midsize car market. Two decades later, it is struggling to remain a player in a segment now dominated by the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. During the 1990s Oldsmobile was given the task of challenging the import brands with cars like the Intrigue. My wife drove... Read full review »

The Buick That Is A Pleasure To Own And Drive

Pros Smooth, quiet ride, nice styling, powerful engine, reasonable pricing, simulated...
Cons Limited color choices, seats could be softer, rear seat trunk access on CX.
Recommended it? Yes

I needed a comfortable car with a smooth ride for my daily commute to work, which is a 150-mile round trip. This car does the job, and gets approx. 22 miles per gallon on this commute, which involves a fair amount of stop-and-go traffic. I compared the LaCrosse with the Chevrolet Malibu and the... Pros Low price luxury/sport Powerful and quiet
Cons Tight rear seat entry with a car seat Intermittent, slight rattle in the dash
Recommended it? Yes

I am a CXS owner since 2 Jan 05 with 3200 miles on the clock. Overall the car has been excellent. On 3 May I had a brake recall service accomplished. The part needed to complete the recall was not in stock, so the dealership provided a LaCrosse CX for a day.

I cannot stress this enough,... Read full review »

Pros Quiet, smooth ride. Ample power. Good mileage. Pleasing to look at.
Cons Chrome wheel option (plastic covers). Cost of some options. Cup holders are hard to use.
Recommended it? Yes

Living in Canada I purchased the "Allure" which is the same vehicle as the LaCrosse but renamed for the Canadian market. After researching almost every write up on this vehicle and test driving almost every competitor's vehicle that I thought would fall into the same class I chose to buy this... Read full review »

Not a Lexus... but a reasonable basic transport vehicle

Pros Yes fairly quiet and smooth...
Cons Seems a bit underpowered on the highway...from 60 to 75
Recommended it? Yes

The Buick LaCrosse CXS left me with only a fair first impression as a used car. Still not even close to the same class as a Lexus... but hey... its much more affordable.
Overall, my LaCrosse offers a driving experience that will suit older, more traditional Buick drivers just... Read full review »

Pros solid structure, buttery leather, Jag style
Cons rear tail lights make the car look like a Taurus, fully loaded can be expensive
Recommended it? Yes

The first time I saw this car at the dealership I thought it was a Jaguar. This is by far the best looking Buick to date (at least in the front). While I was getting my oil changed I decided that I would take this car for a test drive.
The car I test drove was a $33,000 dollar, Black, CXS with... Read full review »

2005 Buick Lacrosse replaces my 2002 Mercury Sable

bybilred Jul 6, 2007

Pros If I drive the Lacrosse reasonably, the mileage is comparable to my Sable trade-in.
Cons The Goodyear Integrity OEM tires had to be replaced by the dealer. Wouldn't balance...
Recommended it? Yes

GM has produced a great vehicle in the Lacrosse. My friends who love to brag about their Camrys and Camry clones are quieter now that they've experienced the Lacrosse. It is the smoothest, quietest car I've ever owned!

I loved my 3.0 V6 Mercury Sable trade-in, for the most part, but I've... Read full review »

I recently got hit by another vehicle (T-boned by a full size car) in my driver's side door. the other car was traveling about 40 mph and the LaCrosse really came through. no air bags went off, the door was really banged up bad (wouldn't open) but the glass did not shatter and I was fine (wearing...
