I bought the Brother XL-2230 Sewing Machine over the summer via Amazon.com for the lip smacking price of $99.99 with free shipping and no tax. Since I avoided $17 in shipping and the 9.75% tax rate here in Tennessee, I thought I was getting a pretty good deal.

never buy a used sewing machine
I got this from warehousedeals on amazon (the open box outlet) and never got it to work properly. It was an exercise in frustration - the bottom thread was consistently loopy no matter what I did.
