MFC-9840-CDW

Pros Exemplary All-in-One with no competition at this price with these features, period.
Cons absolutely none. I don't print envelopes so I have no comment on that aspect
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Highly recommended
I have had my new MFC-9840cdw for about two weeks now. I want to first mention pcRush.com for offering me a price of only $698.00 only $12 shipping for a total of $710.00. The Salesman over there (Zack) went out of his way to give me the sales invoice with order numbers & the tracking # to assist me with the Brother Rebate of $50 that expired on March 31, 2008... this means I got this incredible state of the art machine for only $660.00 delivered to my door. No, I do not have any affiliation to pcRush.com...

At this point, I have scanned, copied, printed and faxed, all with ease. I am replacing both an HP laser and HP inkjet. I have been a long HP user, actually for nearly 20 years and it is simple, they no longer can hold a candle to Brother.

If you want it all... I mean everything in one machine, this is simply "IT"...

(1)--50 page ADF
(2)--Full Duplex printing
(3)--excellent clear laser printing
(4)--one of the lowest cost for consumables
(5)--reasonably small size foot {17" by 19"} print and weight (77 lbs) for all that it does. I bought a four wheel square wood caster wheel dolly that has no arms just the wheels to tool this puppy around as needed.
(6)--full WIFI Router connection that works awesome, so I have no wires that force my to keep my laptop next to the unit. I now print from the bedroom to my office (yippeee)...
(7)--dead quiet on sleep mode that it immediately enters after printing is completed. Only a few seconds lag when it starts up from sleep.
(8)--no paper jamming
(9)--phenomenal speed of black or color prints [21/21]
(10)--so simple a firt grader could replace the toner cartridges
(11)--handy fold down second paper tray (I plan to acquire the LT100CL very soon which is the separate fully functioning electronic 500 paper tray) but for now this little fold down works well, as I set it up with a stack of 8x11 sticky labels (thicker than paper) and there has not been one jam, not a one...
(12)--the fax works well with my using only one phone line with two different ring tones (extra ring tone is $5 extra/month from Qwest).
(13)--Installing drivers and set with CD's was no problem at all.
(14)--buttons and Lighted LCD are easy to work with and clear.

Like most of you, I did my research. I wanted ADF, Duplexing, and Wireless on a Multi-function, so right there that left out HP & Lexmark and most all others. I considered the ink sticks 8560MFP/cp Xerox but the loss of so much wax each time the machine is turned on worried me, along with the stink...also looked at the Xerox C2424DP, 6115MFP/dp I also considered the minolta 2480MF and 2490MF... But in the final analysis, none of them offered what BROTHER offers with their newest MFC... the 9840cdw

Now we shall wait and see it the product holds up over time. One thing about HP is they stood the test of time, but they fell asleep somewhere and let the competition come in and trounce them... I consider HP 2nd rate now and have for some time... you just don't get enough bang for the buck anymore with them. Perhaps they think a SOHO business would spend $3000 for the same thing they can get for $700 but trading on their past name no longer cuts it.

I will update as needed...

Thanks
