What a Headache!
Pros
Separate ink cartridges; doesn't use much ink, good print quality and resolution; compact size

The Bottom Line:
Brother unloaded a lemon on the consumer with this model. We have owned two and had the exact same problems with it.
I love this printer. In fact I still have it, but I can't count the times I have nearly thrown it in the garbage. I was originally very impressed with this MFC. So impressed that I bought another one for my husband's office. It does everything and does it well when it works. That's just it. Sometimes is just doesn't want to work. I have spent hours tearing my hair out trying to figure out why it won't work. Sometimes it says it's out of ink, and it's not. Sometimes it says there is a paper jam and there's not. Sometimes it says the cover is open when it's not. It won't work under any of those conditions. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Sometimes that works, sometimes not. Recently I thought it was finally toasted when I got some error message (sorry I forgot what it was) when I couldn't get it to do anything. I started shopping for another printer. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it started working again. I would say I just got one of the bad ones except my husband has had the exact same problems with his. So it's just a bad model. I like the Brother brand, and I would like to buy another but this experience makes me wary of buying another Brother.
