obscene ink waster
Pros
Cheap retail price (but you pay later).
Cons
Drinks ink like a wino taking to ripple. Small, flimsy paper tray. Buggy software.

Believe it: this machine was intentionally designed to waste ink. Every 2 days, it automatically cleans itself using ink, and there is no way to adjust this. I thought this must be an error, but Brother customer service confirmed it to be true. So even though I rarely use color, I ran out of it frequently, and the machine would not run at all until I replaced the pricey cartridges. I somewhat solved the problem by turning the machine off when not in use. Of course, this limits its usability as a fax receiver. In addition, it sometimes prints half a page of what you want, spits it out, then prints out the whole page, so it wastes paper as well.
