The Bottom Line:
My final say is you pay for what you get. Don't be swayed by the insanely low price on this machine.
I decided I wanted to purchase a sewing machine that I could use for easy garment and home decor sewing projects. I saw this machine at Wal-Mart for $78 and I figured I would buy it since I didn't need one of the more expensive machines with loads of functions. As soon as I pulled it out of the box and tried to set it up I knew I had made a huge purchasing mistake.
The casing is plastic and incredibly cheap. It's a hassle to thread. I also very much dislike the side load lower bobbin. If you don't get the shuttle in just right, it won't work. Then you get machine oil all over your hands. Even with the proper thread tension the machine will occasionally "eat" my thread, requiring me to take the case apart and take tweezers to get the jammed thread out of all of the moving parts inside. It skips stitches. The reverse feature doesn't work half the time. You get to the end of a hem row, hit the reverse switch and the needle just sits there and tears up the fabric.
I've decided to give it to Goodwill and spend the extra $200 on a decent machine that will allow me to sew for more than two minutes at a time without something messing up.
