Resolution is poor

bykimbertop Dec 7, 2006

Pros Ease of operation...a real "no-brainer." Consistently reliable.
Cons Resolution is too low to make most documents legible.
Recommended it? No

Okay, so I wanted an inexpensive fax machine for very light office use. However, I was not able to preview the resolution on the faxes I receive. The resolution is SO poor that I was tempted to go back to my old HP dinosaur that you had to hand feed one page at a time to...
Initially I thought... Read full review »

Found it to be okay

Pros Easy to use.
Cons Display window (instructions) too small.
Recommended it? Yes

Over 4 years usage. After getting "used" to it found that there are a few tricks to it. Make sure that paper feed is seated (the part that you pull forward to place the sheave of paper), that you place the message paper in "square" and have the guides properly set, easy to clear if there is a paper... Don't have time to stand here...

byKagey Nov 13, 2003

Pros Hard to say? Maybe price.
Cons Won't fax 1 sheet at a time, grabs all the pages at once!
Recommended it? No

and feed the sheets in one at a time! But, if I don't, it takes all the papers in at one time! Not a good machine unless you are only faxing one page at a time. As a Realtor, I am faxing 8 and 9 pages at once and it just doesn't work for me. Looking to replace and will be giving this one away! Read full review »

Brother Intelifax 770 - It works great as an occasional home fax machine.

Pros Price is good esp with rebates. Works fine for light faxing.
Cons It has functions I don't need or want. Doesn't do well with multi sheets.
Recommended it? Yes

I wanted a basic fax machine for my home. There are times that I need to fax, and I've been driving to town and paying $1 per page to send faxes. I just write the "to" and "from" on the sheet I'm sending, because it's nuts to pay $1 to send a whole page with nothing but names listed. It's not like... Read full review »

Not the best Brother we've had, but it works.

bycmiller32 Mar 25, 2003

Pros Decent Print Quality, Makes fast copies, Not overly complicated
Cons Takes forever to receive/send faxes, Cartrigdes aren't cheap
Recommended it? Yes

This was a fairly new release at Office Depot when we got it. It works fine and hasn't had any real trouble. It just takes FOREVER to fax something or send something. We've had 2 other brother fax machines (one being one of the first ever made by brother. My mom won it in a raffle)I will probably... Read full review »

I have a home office and even though my computer has the built in fax capabilities I felt compelled to buy a fax machine. I searched around, not really knowing what I needed and made a spur of the moment decision to buy the Brother 770.
When I discovered the features it has I was very pleased... Read full review »

OK but not the best

Pros Acceptable quality, low cost
Cons Unreliable paper feed.
Recommended it? No

I bought this machine when outfitting my new home office last year. I wanted to get a reasonable priced, plain paper fax that would allow me to program in a bunch of numbers and also one that would allow me to set it and forget it. I also needed a machine that would give me good quality, readable... Read full review »

Cons Ribbons can add up in $$. Brother tech support can be lacking sometimes.

I've owned the 770 model fax for about a year now, and it's still working just fine for me. There are however, basics that people need to know before purchasing a "plain paper fax" (explained further below).

NOT FOR RECEIVING or COPIES:

If you own a small business and receive a... Read full review »

Having a home based business, I really didn't need to spend a whole lot of money of any office equipment. I actually paid $50. for this Fax machine from a family member, who no longer needed it. I am so happy that I that I took the chance. The paper feeding is great - It faxes up to 10 pages and... Read full review »

My husband and I purchased this fax machine for our roofing business we have that we run out of our home. We figured it would be a good investment seeing as so many customers like estimates faxed to them or we sometimes need to have information immediately using a fax.
