Tethered, but very flexible and a good deal
If you're looking at this device, you most likely already know what you'd be getting yourself into: without computer, it won't print anything, and there is no way telling whether in five years from now, Brother will support the then-in-vogue operating systems.

Nice, easy-to-use but wastes supplies
I purchased the PT1500 because it was only $10.00 more than a hand-held device. The ability to use this on a PC was important to me, too.

PROs:
Very versatile, no limits to no. of lines, impressive print quality, fast, easy to use software. Variety of tapes available, supposed to have better adhesion than Dymo brand labelers, UV/fade and water resistant transparency with ink laid on from behind the tape (more protection).

Great little printer
Great printer for a wide variety of labeling. The ability to add and scale images and clip-art makes the labels more effective and attractive. not for Windows XP: NOT Plug-and-Play!!!!
The 2002-era print driver is the lastest available. COLOSSAL PIECE OF JUNK!!! DOESN'T WORK!!!
I got stuck with two (2) installed on 3 different computers with different operating systems and could not ever get the junk to work like it was advertised.
