I'm impressed!!

Pros Versatile, great print quality, easy software (see review)
Cons None, except ships with old software and printer driver, not Win XP compatable (see review)
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I made a very good decision with this purchase, it's a great machine. You will not be disappointed with it. I highly recommend it. Nice job, Brother, Inc.!!!
PROs:
Very versatile, no limits to no. of lines, impressive print quality, fast, easy to use software. Variety of tapes available, supposed to have better adhesion than Dymo brand labelers, UV/fade and water resistant transparency with ink laid on from behind the tape (more protection).

CONs:
Windows XP installation requires downloading updated driver and software from www.brother.com. Everything that ships on the CD is old. (The old driver will NOT work with Windows XP.) None, otherwise (I don't need stand-alone; computer-based is fine for my use).

This little gem works terrifically and even looks good on your desk, with the photo-frame attachment. The updated software from the manufacturer's website works flawlessly, both of them (the Quick easy one and the one with more features). There's limited learning involved.

Be sure to get the updated printer driver from www.brother.com. Save yourself the hours I lost by knowing that the file you download will not extract properly if you bury it too deeply in your hard drive subdirectory structure. Even c:\...My Documents\My Downloads\Brother is too deep. I ended up having to go with c:\Temp\Brother. I wish Brother would have explained this on their website, because I wouldn't have lost an entire Saturday to trying to figure out why I couldn't extract the downloaded printer driver to get it installed! This is really my ONLY complaint.

The little tool that ships inside the machine really does work, to help you remove your printed labels from their backing. Print quality is dyn-o-mite! The gold lettering on black background was impressive. I made a special customized label for the back of a $99 bottle of French champagne we just drank to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and it just took moments!

I purchased it primarily to make garden marker labels for my outside plants that wouldn't fade in the sunlight so fast. I can see where I'm going to be using this for MANY more things than that!

I returned both of the more expensive Dymo labelers that I purchased from Wal-mart recently because both had AWFUL print quality ... if you could see anything at all! I did struggle between this Brother PT-1500PC and their stand-alone (no computer needed) model PT-1900 which was offered with nice store gift card at Office Depot. I opted with the 1500PC for all it's extra flexibility (virtually limitless).
