We purchased the BroilKing PR-S1 cooktop to replace a tabletop gas range/burner. The BroilKing's primary use is serving traditional Japanese nabe, which is cooked on the table. The BroilKing is pretty good at this.
Its best feature is the variable heat control. The temperature stays constant at whatever temperature you set it to, and there are an infinite number of heat settings, so you can get exactly the temperature you want. This is a big plus. It also has a leg that will adjust so that the unit stands perfectly level, so it can hold a fairly large pot or pan.
Like most products, the BroilKing PR-S1 isn't perfect. The chrome surface can easily get spots if it isn't cleaned and dried immediately, but it cleans up nicely otherwise. Also, the area underneath the heating element is tough to clean since it seems that the heating element can't be removed. It would be nice if it had a longer power cord, but for most people who are using it on a countertop, the short cord might be better.
We have been using it for a while and are quite satisfied with it.
