Pros
Safe, cushy ride for junior and stylishly sized for parents
Cons
None
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Absolutely! Don't let price be a deterrent. Shop around for the best deal like I did and go with it.
Like many other parents and reviewers, I did a lot of research before buying this car seat. I'd decided on this doing my own detective work, and also my pediatrician recommended this one, unsolicited, on my last appointment prior to the seat when he noticed my son was getting big in a hurry.
Price wasn't much of an issue to me, because I was factoring in how long I would have it, possibly having it for a second child, and the fact that I was INCREDIBLY frustrated with my previous car seat and how hard it was to get baby in and out and how he cried a lot. I will break my comments into sections:
Price:
I paid $180 for this seat with a coupon and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I don't think it's a bad price for what you get.
Installation:
We didn't install it ourselves. We took it to our local police station because we met a really nice guy there who installed our previous seat. It's much easier to know it's done correctly and let him do it. It looked a little complicated to me, to be honest, but some reviewers say it isn't so it probably depends on the installer and the car. A note about the Latch System: This does work with our car which is a 2005 Acura TSX.
Size:
I like that this car seat design is relatively compact in terms of the space it takes up, but while being spacious and comfy for baby. We don't have and don't plan to have an SUV or minivan any time soon, so for a smallish sports sedan this is nice for us. The styling is very nice, too. I'd pick safety over style, of course, but since it doesn't look completely out of place in our car that's a big plus!!
Comfort:
If only baby could talk, huh? Well, maybe it's how little he talks that speaks volumes about how much he likes this seat. He isn't a fussy baby at all, but he did fuss in the last seat. Not this one. He's very quiet. Once he's buckled, he looks out the window like he's on the best joyride ever. We got this--LUCKILY--right before a 10-hour drive and he was very good. He only cried when he was hungry or needed a change. The rest of the time he slept comfortably or just enjoyed the sights. The angle it's at looks like it would be very comfortable. It's very easy to adjust the tightness of the buckles so there is no more fussing with jamming little arms into a too-small strap or taking forever to readjust it to get him in, then readjust it to get him back out like on my last pain-in-the-neck car seat.
Hope this info helps someone looking into getting a new seat.
