The Bottom Line:
Great seat for any child! Holds 25lbs more than standard car seats.
The Britax Marathon car seat is a great convertible car seat. It can hold an infant from 5lbs up to 33lbs in the rear facing position, and from 20lbs to 65lbs in the forward facing position. It is made to European safety standards, which are higher than the safety standards we have here in the United States. This seat comes with the LATCH system (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren)
Which makes the seat easier to install properly, than it is when using the seat belt. The seat also has a top tether, this helps to secure the seat even more when it's in the forward facing position. The seat will hold a child up to 49 inches tall. This car seat has a tangle free, five-point harness and four harness height adjustments. The styrofoam padding under the fabric, is the same material that is in bicycle and motorcycle helmets. This is great for side impact protection. The 65lb weight limit is great for children who outgrow standard size car seats sooner than would be expected. My son weighed 40lbs at age 2. This was much too young to be using a belt positioning booster seat. The Marathon seat would have been the perfect seat to use for my large child to use. He would have been able to sit not only comfortably, but more importantly, safely.
