The Bottom Line:
So confident in the saftey of this seat, I am rather dreading the day she is too big for it. Can they make one big enough for a teenager?
My almost 3 year old has not outgrown this seat, although she has just learned to unbuckle herself! Really, I feel the $300 investment in this seat was well worth it. We have other "cheap" seats that cost about $50 for the other vehicle we drive and the sitters. There is no comparison in the protection and comfort this seat offers over those others. I can tell the difference in the details - little things that are added to this, like a piece of fabric, so the bottom buckle doesn't burn her little legs when it is hot, more fabric pieces on the straps where they could dig into her neck, if she was leaning far to one side, and velcro for holding the straps away, while she is getting in and out. I often feel guitly that we have not bought one for the other car, or the sitters, but do switch it between vehicles for longer trips.
I had to wash the straps at one point, after a soy milk spill. It says not to take the staps out, unless you really, really have to. I had to call someone at Britax to help me figure out how to get them back in - and it was with another Britax car seat's instructions. While the cover was off, Genevieve grabbed the foam piece that was on the headrests and promptly cracked it in half. I think it is made that way on purpose - so it will softly absorb an impact, but I had to reorder that piece from Britax for $20 before we could put her in it again. Lesson learned - keep those foam pieces away from little hands!
