Works great for a small smoker
Pros
Price, extensive list of accessories thru Brinkmann, easy to use, smokes well
Cons
Size (a little too small), touchy regulator-mounted gas control knob, no ignitor
Recommended it?
Yes
While specifically looking for a gas smoker, I found this unit on clearance at Sears for $69. Setting it up was easy, except there was no quick-connect collar on the gas line, so I had to use a wrench.
With few large wood chunks mixed in with the lava rocks, this unit smokes beautifully. Since the burner is set up to be isolated from the inside of the grill (in case you're frying), it does take a while to heat up and get the smoke rolling...no big deal, though.
The cooking area is fairly small. I haven't tried stacking the two grills, because I like to keep ALL food on the grill easily accessible, but it IS possible. More than one chicken or small turkey would require stacking.
I've only used this unit as a gas smoker, so I can't judge how well it grills or fries. Based on what I've seen far, I'm sure it'll do just fine, just be aware that it isn't very big.
NOTE: Frying requires the purchase of a frying pot. LP tank is not included.
