If you plan on frying, get this, else, don't.
Temperature regulation on this thing isn't fun, it takes a while to warm up, the electric smoker works excellent, my folks have that, I'm sure the gas upright smoke'n'grill with the heating element built in works wonders too, I don't know, but I wish I did! Works great for a small smoker
While specifically looking for a gas smoker, I found this unit on clearance at Sears for $69. Setting it up was easy, except there was no quick-connect collar on the gas line, so I had to use a wrench.
With few large wood chunks mixed in with the lava rocks, this unit smokes beautifully...

Cool grill smoker!
