Serious Cooking Power!

byar_c Feb 16, 2001
Pros Good price - easy to use - reliable
Cons none
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Lightweight and sturdy. A great outdoor propane cooker. Highly Recommended!
The Brinkmann All Purpose Outdoor Gas Cooker/Fryer is a very basic propane cooker with some very heavy duty cooking power. The kit contains the cooking element on a stand, a propane bottle, and a hose.

You do have to attach the hose to the bottle and cooker before using it. If you can't figure out how to attach the hose (instructions are included), you have no business owning or using this cooker!

Cautions

1. The hose is as long as it is for a reason. Be sure to place your propane bottle a safe distance away from the burner. Also be sure that the bottle is not in a place where it or the hose will be tripped over. --- This sounds obvious, but I have seen someone trip over the hose knocking down the cooker and pot containing 3 gallons of very hot grease! Fast reactions kept anybody from getting hurt.

2. Grease gets very hot and can cause severe burns. Watch out for splashing grease. Get a frying basket that fits inside your pot and use it. Grease burns are not fun.

3. The burner and stand get hot. Another obvious thought, but you have no idea how many people try to move the burner right after turning it off. Common sense...

4. Use the cooker on a level, stable surface. If this thing tips while you are cooking you've got a problem -- not to mention wasted food.

******

The stand itself is fairly lightweight but very stable. It will not tip over very easily. The surface will hold a sizable pot for cooking. Though I don't remember the temperature, I do know that this thing gets hot.

****

The Brinkmann All Purpose Outdoor Gas Cooker/Fryer is excellent for frying fish, shrimp, chicken and a host of other meats. I have used mine for Indian Fry Bread and stews as well.

****As a final note --- RUST is your enemy. Try not to leave the cooker or tank outside in the rain and moisture. The cooker will rust as will the bottom of your propane tank. Many places will not refill or exchange a tank that has a lot of rust on it.
