BRINKMAN DEEP FRYER-GREAT FOR OUTDOOR COOKING!

Pros Less time cooking, easy clean-up
Cons No shield
When spring comes, my husband and I start our fishing season. Out comes the boat (Bite Me) and off we go. The fishing is ripe in our area and we catch lots of fish which tend to consume our freezer after only a short while. So we invite friends over for fish-frys and the occasional crawfish boil.

My husband is an excellent cook and it seems that every year more and more friends come. We had to improvise to keep our sanity so we figured we would buy a deep-fryer and move outside.

Although these fryers are usually used for frying turkeys, they come in very useful for cooking for the numbers and it is a change from the ole barbeque.

After looking around for a while, we opted for the Brinkman Deep Fryer. It looked sturdier than the others and the price was right. Included in the kit is:

HIGH OUTPUT BURNER
30 QUART STAINLESS STEEL POT WITH LID
STAINLESS STEEL STRAINER BASKET
THERMOMETER
INJECTOR

The stand is heavy and has three double sturdy heavy metal legs. It is very stable on a flat surface which is important, obviously, as a spill of hot oil or water could cause a bad accident. The burner hooks up to a propane tank and is extra-powerful and even on breezy days doesn't blow out. It does not have a wind-shield so there is need of something to block it if the wind is strong. It heats up oil or water quickly and cooks at an even pace. If crawfish-boils are your preference, it will cook about 10lbs (we keep an extra pot). Clean up is easy if done right away-one or two pots for all those people. It has given us more time to socialize and less time spent cooking with a lot less clean-up.

If you don't feel like barbeque, I would suggest you keep a Brinkman Deep
Fryer on hand for a little difference in the menu when you have friends over. Try a fish-fry, a crawfish-boil, gumbo, hobo stew at Halloween, oyster stew and, of course, the deep-fried turkey at Thanksgiving.
