The Bottom Line:
Addison definitely loves it and so do I!
My youngest daughter Addison is quickly approaching 10 months old now. We were pleasantly surprised when we found out we were expecting her, but we had absolutely no baby stuff! We had given all of our older girls toys, clothes and baby gear away. We had to start all over again. Admittedly it was fun to shop for baby gear and toys all over again, but, we were a bit overwhelmed with the choices. When it came time to get Addison an activity center we settled on the Bright Starts Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone.
Price & Location
We purchased out Bright Starts Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone at Wal-Mart.com for $39.84. It was the best priced activity center we came across and was an award winning one at that! You can find this product almost anywhere Bright Starts products are sold, varying in price.
It Won't Blind You!
The first thing caught my eye about the Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone was the color combinations. It was bright and fun without being hard on the eyes. I wanted something that would stimulate Addison, but something that wouldn't clash horridly with the rest of her baby stuff. This fit that niche perfectly. Bright Starts used an appealing combination of purple, green and yellow. While the colors are bright and attractive, they're a bit muted so that they aren't blinding. Even the fabric seat keeps to that color combination but throws in some blue and pink too. The fabric on the seat has little animals dancing and moving about and little green leaves scattered throughout.
Nice & Compact
The second thing I liked about the Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone was the compact size. Our living room isn't huge and with a sofa, loveseat, two end tables, coffee table, big tv and entertainment rack, we are limited on space! I knew I would want to keep the activity center in the living room or be able to carry it into another room with ease. The Bounce Bounce Baby is the perfect compact size to sit in a corner when not in use. It's size also makes carrying it around the house a breeze. It even fits easily into the bathroom when I have to place Addy in it so I can get a shower. It's lightweight enough so that I'm not struggling to move it.
What's It Got?
For just under $40.00 the Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Center gives my Addison loads to do. There are toys on there that would be on the more expensive activity centers! Here is what you will find on the Bounce Bounce Baby:
* A light up musical piano. There are three keys, red, green and yellow. Hit any one of these and all three will light up and play 1 of 6 short songs. These songs only last for about 10 seconds each.
* A spinner that has a clear plastic ball with 2 butterflies and colored beads inside. When you spin it it makes quite a bit of noise!
* An animal see-saw with a lion and an elephant on it. When it's moved up or down it makes a clicking noise. It's made of hard plastic.
* A detachable mirror with a brightly colored blue and purple zebra on it. It has a plastic hook on the back of it to make it easy to remove. The mirror is entirely plastic, so no worries about it breaking!
* On the left side of the mirror is a type of springing toy. When the slightly squishy plastic is pressed all the way down and released it will spring back up and make the two beads on the end clack together.
*On the right side of the mirror are spinning beads in the shape of a caterpillar. Each one spins separately.
The bar containing the mirror, springing toy and beads goes all the way across one side. Underneath it is a feeding tray with two little bowls for snacks.
One of the fun little features is the bouncing pad. The little pad doesn't have a lot of give, so baby can only jump and bounce a tiny bit, but, it's enough to entertain them. When baby bounces springing/boinging noises are activated. The pad moves up and down grow with baby. There are three levers on each leg to move the pad up and down.
The seat rotates 360 degrees allowing baby to reach all the toys with ease. It took Addison a little while to catch onto this, but, once she did she had a ball. She could easily spin to reach what she wanted to play with.
The Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone is intended for baby's 4 months of age and up and up to 30 inches tall. We bought it for Addison at five months and she was able to sit up with ease in this activity center. This activity center requires 2 AA batteries.
Assembly
My husband puts things together in our house. When we opened the box to the Bounce Bounce Baby we found easy to follow instructions. My husband was able to get this activity center up in 45 minutes with minimal headaches or throwing of objects. This does require tools (a screwdriver) so, be prepared! Most of the toys pop easily into place so even I was able to help out in putting it together.
Durability
We have had the Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone for 5 months now and it has held up very well. Addison really loves to pound on the bounce pad and chew on the toys. My older girls love to play with her while she's in it and it has even stood up to them. I take it to different rooms and we have even traveled with it. Despite that it shows no signs of wear. It cleans easily with a damp rag.
Our Experience
At five months Addison wasn't quite sure what we were doing to her each time we put her in the Bounce Bounce Activity Zone. Her older sisters helped her to catch on to the toys by playing with them. Before long she would start kicking her legs in excitement every time we went to place her in her seat. Her favorite two things are the see-saw animals and the little mirror. She loves the sound the see-saw makes when moved up and down. She also loves to chew on both of the animals. The mirror is a big hit because she loves to look at herself in it. We sometimes take it off of the bar and hand it to her. She gets a big kick out of it!
Addison enjoys the spinning ball, but just recently learned how to spin it on her own. Before that we had to spin it for her. She now really gets a kick out of it. She loves to grab the base of it and give it a little shake. The bar it's on has a little bit of give, but not so much that it can be pulled back far and hit baby when released.
Since purchasing the Bounce Bounce Baby we have had to lower the bounce pad to it's lowest setting. It sits a few good inches from the base of the legs. Now, bounce pad will probably make you think that baby will really catch some air, but, it's got very little give. This doesn't stop Addison from taking advantage of what little bounce it does have. So, rest assured baby won't go flying out of her seat, but, she will enjoy the little bit of bounce it provides.
My Only Complaint
My only complaint is that there isn't a chew type toy on the Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone. Further, there's no toy that Addison can grab and pull towards her. She tries and tries to pull at the bar but to no avail. She gets highly frustrated because she desperately wants to put the spinning caterpillar in her mouth!
Overall
I would highly recommend the Bright Starts Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone. You get a lot out of this little activity center at a fantastic price. The size is compact and easy to carry. The toys catch and keep baby's attention. It has held up well in the 5 months we've had it. Addison definitely loves it and so do I!
