Otherwise fair, but I got burned--literally!

You can easily burn your fingers with normal use. Inefficient (not insulated).

The Bottom Line:
Look around for a unit that is more "user friendly" unless you like the looks above all else.
Replaced our old kettle (it finally bit the dust) with this one. Overall it seems nice, though I agree about the poor visibility of the water level gage.
Now, how was I burned(?). The handle invites your thumb and/or forefinger to touch the outside of the kettle and, guess what, it is not insulated! OUCH!
Another complaint I read was that the unit was slow to heat. I have not timed this, but here is my take on the design: This is a "premium" appliance (so we thought) and they went out of their way to dress it up. The top lid has a viscous damper so it doesn't slam open when the release button is pressed. The water scale is illuminated with a white LED (but not while filling, which is when you really need to see it!). It is a nice looking kettle.
However, there is more form here than function. Why isn't it double walled and insulated? That would decrease the heating time, prevent burns (from any surface, not just near the handle), and also help it maintain its temperature after switching off. If they thought more about usage before looks it would have made it live up to its premium status and price.
