The Bottom Line:
This heater may only be worth it if it's on sale. It is a bit pricier than the competition yet does the same job (boils water).
I picked up this water heater from bed bath and beyond (with the mailed 20% off coupon). It is the most attractive of the available offerings, but also the most expensive.
I first looked into getting one of these after I used my friend's Braun cordless kettle. While the Braun definitely boils water faster than the Breville, I noticed the bottom of the Braun gets rust and the container is plastic! Not sure I want to be boiling water in either of those two. Reviews on other water boilers available at Bed bath and beyond all had negative marks for failing to work / getting rust after a few uses.
Thus I bit the bullet and bought the Breville. Yes it does boil water slower than the competition, but it is faster than using my stove.
Build quality is the best out of all heaters I found, however the metal is not extremely rigid and if bumped against a corner, will dent. The brushed silver finish and shape of the kettle is aesthetically pleasing. This model is definitely the best looking out the available water heaters (if that matters to you).
I'm sure there is a better product out there, but until I see it in the stores, the Breville will make do.
