Great blender, especially for smoothies!

The Bottom Line:
Great blender with a powerful motor in a trim style - commercial style perfect for home use.
After having my Osterizer blender for 25 years, I wanted something that had alot more power, especially for making smoothies. I was all set to get either a Vitamix or BlendTec but thought I'd do a little more research first.
I'm glad I waited because I found this gem at Bed Bath and Beyond for nearly half the price of the commercial blenders (they start at about $350.) The 750 watt motor translates to about 1 HP...the same as some of the commercial blenders I looked into. Rather than a plastic-type polystyrene container that other home blenders have, this one has a glass container. The stainless base gives it a nice high end look. It has 6 blades, 2 of which are serrated rather than smooth. I think this is one of the reasons it chops up ice and frozen fruit so well.
I've had this for just over a week and have used it 3 or 4 times. It has a smoothie setting; add the ingredients, cover and press "smoothie" on the setting. The machine does the rest. It whirrs for a few seconds, then pulses a few times, whirr, pulse, etc. At the end it shuts off automatically and you have a perfect smoothie.
I have not disassembled the bottom yet as some previous reviewers have so I cannot comment on ease of re-assembly or any leaks.
Price at Bed Bath and Beyond was $199 but I used a 20% off coupon and paid only $159 (plus NY tax)
