A long time ago there was a game on the Super Nintendo called Breath of Fire 2 and it was a good game. I never played the first, but judging from the other 2 it is most likely fairly good. The elements that make BoF3 rise above the over games are three simple things: It's a long game, many cool side quests such as fishing, and the master system is one of the funnest I have ever played in my several years expierince. I always thought I preferred the job classes, but this one I like better. This was the first RPG I ever had, because the others had all belonged to my brother, who is 11 years older than me but we share a common interest: video games. This is my personal favorite RPG that is a hardcore RPG. It is my 4th in my favorite games. All the ones above it are stratagy RPG's, but BoF3 is far different than a stratagy RPG.
The Good:
The Master System: This is by far my favorite system because it seems a lot more real than getting powers from little stones that go in your sword, junctioning things to your vitality or getting special powers from espers. I don't really care about realism, but it seems pretty real to train your guys under a certain master and their attributes go up. You can learn some good things and some worthless things. All in all, I like the master system.
Challenge: I found this game surpasses a lot of games in hardness. It seems to me that you have to work hard to win, and finding things on sub-quests is actually important. I like the basic challenge.
Story: The story, though annoying at times like when you need to save it really bad and it will take you three and a half weeks to get to a save point, is all in all interesting. I think the story has actually comedy sometimes, which is totally different than the games I usually play, which is Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, Brigadine, and SaGa Frontier. I like Nina and Rei (I sometimes find myself saying "Doesn't that just beat all?") and Momo and Peco and Garr and Ryu. They are the coolest!!!!
