A Classic RPG

Pros Bright, simple graphics, cool story line, dragon morphs
Cons Some boss fights can drag out for eternity
Recommended it? Yes
I'm currently borrowing this game from my friend, and I doubt I'll ever get it back. This is one of the greatest RPG's I've ever played, It's even up there with the all mighty FFVII and FFVIII. It's not as great as Square's powerhouses, but it's still better than alot of other RPG's. It's graphics are simple 2D graphics, but they are colorful and detailed

The story is a classic, you play as Ryu, a member of a near-extinct dragon race called the Brood, and you must find God and find out why your race was hunted down. Garr, one of your companions and former Guardian (the people that hunted down the Brood) is the one who wants to find God, he wants to know if what he did was right or not. In the beginning your hunting for your friends Teepo and Rei, who you got separated with after the town sent some horse people to stop your thieving ways. On your way you meet up with Nina, princess of Wydia, Momo, an engineer with a bazooka that packs one helluva punch, and Peco, a walking onion. You meet up with Garr at a tournament and go on a mission to Angel Tower. When you get there Garr tries to kill you, but you defeat him. Fast forward a couple of years, where you wake up after going into a coma. Garr has come to rescue you, feeling what he did to your race was wrong and wanting to make up with you and see if what his God made him do was wrong. That's where your real quest begins, your quest for God (that actually sounds pretty cool).

The battle system is standard turn-based, not like FFVIII's meter-thing, but your move depends on how much you weigh. Sometimes you'll have to skip some good weapons in order to keep your weight up. Ryu also has the ability to morph into a dragon, which is useful for boss battles. When you change into a dragon, you must choose the properties (fire, electric, shadow, etc.). You also have to find most of the genes, and they can be in some pretty tricky places. If your an RPG fan, this is a must play game.
