The Bottom Line:
Recommend - after much use I still just love it!
This is my 4th bread machine. Have owned Black and Decker and another brand and but love this machine. Last one I had was a large loaf B&D and had nothing but inconsistent results with it. I never knew if it was going to rise the lid off or be a heavy loaf that barely rose, even useing the same recipe and doing everything EXACTLY right. I returned it.
I bought this brand because it looked beautiful and was on sale for $49 at London Drugs. I make bread almost every day and thought I would give it a try. Everything I've made in it has turned out beautifully. I don't have to use a thermometer for the water or fuss about anything. I've found the 1 1/2 lb loaf makes a great shape for toaster etc. It has so many features I really like compared to my past machines - The recipe book is thorough (not like my last B&D), everything is easy and big enough to read on the face, very different from my last ones that had tiny printing that was hard to see, shows what step the machine is on, makes gluten free bread, black and stainless steel housing looks very cool on the counter and the sloped front makes it visibly take up much less room in a counter corner. The "Canadian Bread Machine Baking" Cookbook by Roxanne Mcquilkin works perfectly with this machine - her large loaf is equal to a 1 1/2 lb loaf and I have not had to adjust a recipe one iota, which means a lot to me. I just get fed up if I have to make a recipe several times with adjustments to get it right.
I just had to post this somewhere because I just am so very happy with this machine.
