Wonderful Product!
Pros
Removes hair and damages follicle making hair grow back slower and a lot finer!
Cons
Is painful at first/No smooth feel afterwards but you can't SEE hair or stubble.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
This is a great product for people (like me) who are tired of having to shave so often and hate spending lots of money on waxing!
I was very nervous about getting one of these and researched it to death beforehand and finally decided on this model because it seemed to be the most popular one and best for the price.
Mine came with a cord (it's not rechargeable-which to me is better anyway because you don't have to worry about the battery dying before you've finished the job)
Also it comes with 2 epilating frames for the head. One is a starter one that is supposed to help with the pain, I'm not sure if it really does or not but I find the other one is easier to get the hairs especially around the ankle bone. It also comes with a shaver head (which is a great bonus), a brush to clean the hairs out, and a travel pouch.
Pain is definitely a factor with epilators. I was hesitant to start epilating because I knew it would hurt like heck and for the first 2-3 times IT SURE DID!!!
It was sheer torture actually but I do kind of have naturally thick hairs on my legs and really sensitive skin so that's probably why I had so much pain.
My legs were so red and swollen for hours after each use at first as well so that was no fun!
The great thing is that after you use it 2-3 times the hair grows back SO much lighter and finer and is a lot less painful to remove.
Also another plus from continued use is that the red irritation isn't as bad the more your skin gets used to it, it doesn't seem to last as long or be as puffy.
Having finer hairs does seem to make the hairs harder to find to epilate them but that's not really a big deal. ;)
The only draw back is that you don't get smooth feeling legs but you cannot see hairs and if you gently shave with a regular razor the day after epilating you get silky smooth legs! (something that before the epilator was hard to come by for me)
I only epilate once a week currently and don't see any stubble because the hairs are so light and fine! It's wonderful!!!
I'm VERY impressed with this thing and am so glad I went for it despite my fears!
I haven't epilated my armpits or bikini area and really don't think I'll chance it. My skin is just too sensitive and I know that would be sheer torture and probably not worth it.
It does take a good chunk of time to epilate but I do think it's worth it since you wont have to shave as often and your hair becomes so much finer.
Before the epilator it was so frustrating to shave because it would seem like within hours you could see and feel stubble again-that's why I love this thing so much!
Here are some tips I'll give for any first timers because I know that I sure needed them. ;)
*Be sure your hair is at optimal length-3-5mm.
*Epilate when you're in for the night because you wont want to go out anywhere bearing your legs with them all irritated after epilating.
*Take some pain killers about 30-45 mins before epilating to try and reduce your pain. (at least for the first and 2nd time)
*Soak your legs first with warm water for a while to prep the hairs for removal.
*Epilate in a well lit area so you can see all the hairs easier. The light on the epilator helps a lot but you still need good lighting to do the job right.
*When you start make sure you go slowly! If you don't you'll miss a lot of hairs and have to keep going over the same areas repeatedly.
*Do not put anything on the area for at least 3 hrs after you epilate and when you do be sure it's something soothing like pure aloe. No chemicals at all if you can help it because that will only further irritate your skin.
*Exfoliate and exfoliate often. You can do it the same day as you epilate as long as it's at least 2-3 hrs beforehand. Don't exfoliate until the next day AFTER you epilate though because doing it the same night you epilate would really increase your irritation. Exfoliating will help reduce your chances for ingrown hairs. So far I've only had one so exfoliation really works!
So there's my review, I really hope you find it helpful.
I know when I was researching I needed all the help I could get. ;)
Good luck and happy epilating! :)
