Wow, what a shave!

Pros Extremely close shave, easy to clean.
Cons Rather expensive.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you are thinking of trying an electric razor for the first time, or need a new shaver, buy this one. You won't be disappointed!
I "face" a conundrum with shaving. I have a very thick beard, but also have very sensitive skin. I have tried 3 or so electric shavers over the last 15 years, but with the exception of a Panasonic Wet/Dry shaver I used for a couple of years (and even then I had to shave my neck with a razor everyday), none came even close to shaving like a razor (I'm in the Air Force and have to shave everyday).
My sensitive skin seems to be getting more sensitive as I get older, so I thought I'd try an electric shaver again. After doing some research and reading product reviews on the various models, I decided to go with the Braun Synchro System 7526. This is the basic Synchro System shaver without the bells and whistles, along with the Clean and Charge unit.
Even after spending $120 on the system I still had some doubts as to how well it would work on my face. And boy was I pleasantly surprised! This shaver is awesome! It works 100 times better than any shaver I have tried in the past. It doesn't shave quite as close as a razor, but it's close enough for government work! And the best thing is, no more bleeding like a stuck pig every morning after shaving! I still have to use a razor every other day or so to get some renegade hairs on my neck (my neck hairs tend to lay down, making them hard to get even with a razor). That is a reflection of my beard, not the razor.
As for the Clean and Charge unit, it's pretty neat but it's not the "beat all end all" of shaving. To start with it isn't very sturdy. The arm that holds the shaver in the unit broke the day after I bought the unit. Braun customer service was very helpful and sent me a new unit, though they did not offer to reimburse me for shipping the broken unit back. The unit does work pretty well, but after doing without it for 3 weeks while I waited for Braun to send me a new one I realize that I could do without one. It is convenient; just stick the shaver in the unit, turn it on, and you have a clean, charged shaver for next time. I tried a tip I read on Epinions from one reviewer who said he only used the Clean and Charge unit once a week; the other days he just cleaned the shaver manually. This saves on cleaning fluid. (Braun claims the fluid will last approx one month if you use the unit everyday.) I found that the shaver works much better on my dry skin (especially in winter) if I use the unit everyday. This ensures I have a lubricated foil every morning. That said, if I didn't have the unit I would just oil the foil manually every day.
As for battery life, the charge doesn't last as long as Braun claims, but I think that is because it takes me longer to shave than most people because of my thick beard.
Overall, I definitely recommend this shaver. Unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket and "need" the LED display and other goodies found on the higher end models, just go with the basic shaver. It works just as well. And if you don't mind cleaning it manually, you can do without the Clean and Charge unit as well. That will put your cost around $100, in the league of other shavers that do not shave nearly as well.
