Self cleaning is the wave of the future
Pros
Awesome self cleaning. Stylish stand. Close shave.
Cons
Neck hairs, beard hairs. Finding a place for the cleaning stand.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Cleaning good, cutting bad.
The pros:
Let me start by saying that the self cleaning feature works and works well. It leaves the razor crystal clean, oiled, and lemony fresh. In attempting my pre-purchase research and could not get a feel for how much it would cost to keep it clean. Let me give you that info:
A 2 pack of refills costs around $12. The manual states that 1 refill will last about 30 days of daily use or 2 months of no use (due to evaporation). I am now past my second month and the cartridge is still going strong. Initially I thought I would conserve and clean every other day, but it works so well, I use it every day. There is nothing like that lemony fresh scent and a clean razor.
The cleaning stand is very stylish and it is nice to have a place to drop the razor in that I know it is protected.
The cons:
The stand must be placed near an outlet on a flat, stable surface. I don't know about you, but I did not have a lot of those in my bathroom. Horizontal space is at a premium.
I ended up placing the thing on top of my dresser.
The syncro action seems absolutely useless. It might be moving side to side, but I can't tell and who cares. I thought this would mean that it would grab hairs better with less strokes, but that is not what it means. It does vibrate a glass as the commercial shows. Whoopdeedo!
It does not cut neck hair well. I am comparing this to an older, cheaper Braun which did a better job. It does cut cheek hair well and provides a very close shave in those areas. The flex head takes some getting used to.
I used to have a goatee. The razor has some wierd cutter in the middle of the two foils. When the razor got too close to the long hairs of my goatee, the middle cutter would grab the hairs. That hurt! I learned to steer clear of the goatee until I ended up just shaving it off.
Don't attempt to do more than 1 days of growth, especially on your neck.
I am going to rank high, but only for the cleaning. The razor itself is stylish, modern, and feature packed, but not worth the money when it comes to cutting hair.
