Next Generation Razor is Really Nice

Pros Cleans itself, very solid, close shave!
Cons Not so good on neck hairs; cleaner won't travel well.
Recommended it? Yes
I had been using a Norelco, about 8 years old, and before that, I had a Norelco that I'd kept for ages and actually replaced the battery on it myself by ordering the part; I was attached to my Norelco habit for at least 15 years.

I bought the 7546 to be exact, not quite as fancy of a readout on the front as the 7570, but exactly the same technology. It comes with a cleaning/charger stand that is easy to use, but a bit large for my sink area, but it fits OK.

I started to recognize with the introduction of both the new Norelco and Braun razors, we were going to see some new tech that was worth trading up for, even if it's a little expensive. These new razors are much better than my old Norelco

I have not been disappointed by either the new 6000 series Norelco or the Braun Syncro razors. The Braun in particular is a very hi-speed razor and seems to shave me faster. The caveat is that it's not as good at my long neck hairs after a weekend of not shaving. But both require that I look in a well lit mirror and individually go after the last dozen or so that I missed when I was just looking in the mirror with no particular attention to detail and trying to get things done quickly.

I've found the powder shave stick to be pretty nice. It does seem to make things go faster. I must admit, I tend to press too hard, from using the Norelco, so now I need to remind myself it's not going to help with the Braun and will make the foil last longer if I don't.

The cleaner seems to work pretty well. I will admit I like the fact that the Norelco collects shaving dust and I wonder where it's going on the Braun, all over my and my face? But the cleaner gives me back a clean shaver ready to go, so I've stopped worrying about it. And I don't have to think about dismantalling and giving it a thorough cleaning for at least a few months. I just let me Norelco get dirty and didn't bother to clean it much, except to empty and wipe it off, so I'm hoping the Braun is more sanitary.

It shaves really close; I was surprised. It hurt a little, after being used to the Norelco. I think the Braun is a closer shave, in general. I still think the Norelco 6000 is doing a better/faster job on my neck hair, but it's pretty close otherwise, with the Braun winning in close shave and ease of cleaning catagories. I expect they will both last about 2 years before I need to change foils/heads because I don't shave every day, maybe 4-5 days a week max, sometimes even less.

The Braun would be the faster shave, except that whatever it saves me in time overall, it takes back when I have to go after my long neck hairs, which might be every other time I shave or so.

I was asking around, which shaver should I buy, the new Norelco, or the new Braun. I found the Norelco as a factory-refurbish for about half price, so I ended up getting both, so I could do my own comparison, and then I can keep one in the car, or take the Norelco on long trips, etc.
I don't think the Braun cleaning base will travel well at all... it would leak, etc.

Also, the Braun will require a new cleaning cartridge every 2 months or so, and that costs about $60 a year to keep up with. But if you compare that to shave cream and razors, it might be a wash.
