The Bottom Line:
In conclusion, has my search for the perfect electric shaver ended? I'm very sad to say that it has not.
Ever since I had the need to shave, I've used the trusty old razor blades. But there was always something so magical about an electric shaver. This is what started me on my quest to find the perfect shaver.
Over the past 2 years I have bought at least 5 different electric shavers, all saying they give the closest shave possible without the nicks and cuts of razor blades. I've bought expensive razors (Norelco Quadraction and others) and I've bought cheap travel shavers, and let me tell you, you shouldn't judge a shaver by it's price. I've actually gotten a better shave with a travel shaver than with the big named expensive ones.
My latest trial was called the Braun Synchro 7570. I was enticed by the commercial, and immediately bought the reasonably priced shaver. I will say, that I love the self-cleaning feature. And I love the smell of the just-cleaned razor. I use it everyday, and for most of my face (the cheeks and the chin), it does a great job. The only part of my face that I have the most problem is under my jawbone and around my throat. This is actually the part that I have the most problem with any electric shaver I've ever used. Even though the head pivots it still does not give me a close shave there. I resort to using the old manual razor for that area.
If I could find an electric shaver that could get me a close shave around the neck area without the razor burn, I'd trash all my razors and shavers, and bow down in praise to the company that made it.
Something else I should mention is the life of the blades. The instruction booklet says something like you get the feel of a new blade every time it is cleaned. Well, the first month I would agree with that. But, actually, I've had it for about 2 1/2 months, and it just doesn't seem like it did when I first bought it, even though I put it through it's cleaning after every shaving session. What used to take one to two passes, now takes at least four or even five.
Lastly, I'd just like to say that the feel of the shaver in action is pretty smooth, and I'd take it over a razor any day, but the areas it misses is very disappointing. This is what makes me reach for the razor every time.
