Great product, but not better than less expensive 7526
Pros
Great shave.Self clean works great
Cons
Braun 7526 does the same cheaper but without LCD display.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Do you really need an LCD display? If not, consider the less expensive 7526 instead. Braun rep told me they are otherwise the same.
First of all, get a Braun Synchro. I love mine. As everyone (almost) else has said, it gives a great shave. The hassle of having to clean an electric razor is something I will pay (a modest price) for.
Other thoughts and advice:
1) Replacement cleaning baths are becoming very widely available. I see them in all major drugstores and now at my local grocery. Price is universally two for $10.
2) Always keep an extra new replacement bath on hand. When the "empty" light goes on, it means NOW, not 1-2 cleaning cycles later.
3) If you have a fairly light daily growth, you can usually go 2 days between cleaning cycles. You could try to go longer, but the alcohol in the bath will evaporate over time regardless of whether you use it or not. You can recharge the unit in the base without activating the cleaning cycle.
4) Don't start the cleaning cycle until you are sure you are through shaving. If you find a little whisker you missed, you cannot pull the razor mid-cycle.
5) Cleaning cycles are fairly loud. I don't start it until I'm ready to leave for work. If a spouse/date sleeps later than you and it's audible from the bed, a negotiation is called for.
6) There is very little real difference between the 7526 and higher model shavers. The 7526 is up to $30 cheaper and the only difference is that it does not have an LCD display. (This was confirmed by Braun Tech support). If the geek factor does not require you to buy the 7560, the 7526 is just as great a product.
The best testament I can give to the Braun Synchro's is that I gave one to my father as a gift to replace a perfectly working older Braun.
