The Bottom Line:
Used correctly, this shaver gives an excellent shave. The self-cleaning feature leaves the shaver looking new and sanitized after every use.
Let me get straight to the important stuff. This shaver works great. The self cleaning feature leaves the blades absolutely spottless, everytime. Also, the shave is exceptionally close for an electric. For those who may be on the fence because of complaints you may have heard about neck stubble being particularly difficult to cut with an electric, follow a couple of tips and you will have no problems.
First, use a pre-shave gel or lotion. I like the Lectric Shave Ulta gel. It removes oil and allows the stubble to stand up for better cutting and unlike shaving cream, there is nothing to clean off when you are done.
Second, for those tough to get hairs under the neck, go against the grain, not just up instead of down but actually move the foil from left to right.
These two steps will allow you to get almost 100% of your facial hair and only adds a few seconds to your shave time.
I follow up with a nice aftershave, but that is just personal preference.
BTW, this is my second Braun shaver. My first one lasted for 8 years of heavy use.
