The Bottom Line:
The cost of this shaver is worth it. The built-in electronic chip will extend your battery life, and you can save money on cleaning tanks by refilling them yourself.
I've gone through so many electric razors it's not funny. I owned two Panasonic wet/dry shavers that would secrete a black/rust soup after using them in the shower and gave out after about a year of regular use (just over the warranty period). Before that I had a Norelco rotary which required many more passes to shave the same amount of hairs; although I must admit the Norelco was very reliable and durable. Prior to that I owned a couple of Remington Micro Screen rechargeables which would give me bad razor rash and would also die after a couple years.
This Braun is by far the best shaver I've ever owned. It shaves close and very comfortably. After two dead Panasonic rechargeables, I wanted this Braun with the smart chip feature that extends the rechargeable battery life. I chose the less expensive 7526 instead of the 7680 with the LCD panel. Some people say that the cleaning fluid tanks are expensive, but users should take note that the cleaning fluid is just 40% denatured alcohol available at the grocery store or five and dime and it can be refilled for pennies if you do it yourself.
