Plastic gears a serious design flaw.
Pros
Does a good job before it breaks. Very fine customer service.
Cons
The plastic gearing system should be redesigned or replaced.

I bought this blender because of its top rating by "a leading consumer magazine." My wife and I wanted to use it to make smoothies from frozen fruits and juices.
The machine worked flawlessly for a few months, but the plastic gears that kicked the pitcher to the base then broke.
I contacted Braun and they send me a new blade-gear unit.
this broke again after a month or so.
I again contacted Braun and they again send me a new blade-gear unit. Deja vu all over again.
I am now in the market for a new blender without a plastic gear mechanism. I guess I would rate the blender as a 0 and the customer service as a 5.
